IndyCar News: Alexander Rossi Cleared to Drive Indy 500 Alexander Rossi, driver of the No 20 Java House Chevrolet for Ed Carpenter Racing, had a massive hit on the turn 2 wall this past Monday in the rain-shortened practice session. Rossi spun and made contact with the SAFER Barrier, causing the cars of Pato O’Ward and Romain Grosjean also to spin and sustain damage. Rossi was sent to the hospital for observation overnight and had minor surgery on a finger and on his right ankle the next day. The question was whether the front row starter for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 would be able to participate in the race this coming Sunday. Rossi arrived with the assistance of crutches and hopped on one foot to sit in his seat for the press conference, demonstrating resilience and determination to race despite the injury. Rossi responded to media questions on his condition. “I am cleared to race. I will have to be on crutches because it’s a non-weight-bearing injury. Fortunately, to drive a race car, you don’t have to bear weight. Range of motion is good. Pain is minimal. Swelling, as you can see, I fit into my race boot. - VPG Sim reveals Mission Sim steering wheel - Mission Sim is constructed from aluminium and carbon fibre, with 128 programmable inputs High-end steering wheel manufacturer VPG Sim teased an intriguing, sim-focused product ahead of SimRacing Expo Charlotte. The UK-based firm has previously specialised in creating racecar-grade steering wheels for home use, including its Porsche Cup wheel, which is designed and manufactured in the same factory as the one found in real Porsche 911 Cup GT3 (992) cars. Now, VPG has turned its attention to a sim racing steering wheel with a no-compromise approach, called ‘Mission Sim’. The Mission Sim, which will be available to sample at SimRacing Expo Charlotte, is a formula-style rim weighing 1.3 Kg and measuring 290mm wide. There are 128 programmable inputs and a four-inch VoCore screen featuring Gorilla glass with an anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coating. The wheel has eight Elma Electronic rotary switches in total (four thumb, four front), two funky switches, one 12-position multi-switch and four standard push buttons, replete with obligatory RGB LED lights. Its chassis is constructed mostly from aluminium, with a carbon fibre front plate. All switchgear is also aluminium, with CNC-machined polycarbonate button caps throughout. The Mission Sim will also be compatible with VPG’s Duo-Mod Paddles add-on, allowing three pairs of paddles to be used. Most sim racers treat Gran Turismo 7 like a game, because it is one. Make a mistake? Reset. Get punted into the wall? Reset. There are no consequences, no accountability, no reason to change anything. I stopped thinking that way a long time ago. I started approaching sim racing thinking like I own the car. The damage bill is mine. The repair costs are mine. And if something goes badly wrong at speed, that's on me, too. It's a mental shift that sounds small but changes everything about how you approach sim racing. Your patience, your positioning, your respect for the people around you. It also makes you a lot more honest about who's actually causing the problems on track. I've been casually sim racing for over ten years, mostly with iRacing. I built a second rig and started racing on the PlayStation 5 with Gran Turismo 7 using PSVR2, mostly because I missed the simplicity of console gaming. I follow the Facebook and r/GranTurismo communities and had resisted the online daily races because I got the sense that it is a bad experience, with everybody wrecking each other in a free-for-all, with no consideration for racecraft. I started to get bored with the Sophy AI; I needed that unpredictable, personal, real-person racing experience. I decided to pause iRacing and concentrate, at least for a while, on Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races in VR. For the past few months, I've been racing in Daily Race A; the attached YouTube video is a great summary of my experience. I'm not a great racer; I'm old, and my reflexes are slower than those of somebody in their prime. Maybe I'm too slow to be up with the chaos, but I try to race fair and take pride in my racecraft and patience.

The new shade is called Azzurro 20 Anniversary Ad Personam. It takes its cue from the Lamé Sky Blu finish of the Miura Roadster, bringing a famous Lamborghini colour into the modern era with a more technical, layered finish. Customisation becomes core business Ad Personam was launched at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, where Lamborghini previewed its more personal approach with a limited-series Gallardo. That car wore Nero Noctis paint, matte contrasts, Callisto wheels and a two-tone leather and Alcantara cabin with Q-Citura stitching. Two decades on, the programme is far more than a paint-and-trim menu.
