Simucube 3 Ultimate's hands-on debut at <b>SimRacing</b> Expo Charlotte

The Simucube 3 wheel base was a significant new product for the Finnish brand last year, replacing a then six-year-old stalwart. However, to this point, only the 15Nm Sport and 25Nm Pro have been available to purchase or test at events. At next week’s SimRacing Expo Charlotte, the range-topping 35Nm Simucube 3 Ultimate base will debut with a world-first hands-on opportunity. Such torque is delivered by a ‘Spoke IPM’ motor, which the outfit claims is the quickest responding motor it’s ever created. The exact release and shipping date for the device is still unknown, but expected within 2026. All visitors will be able to test it on Booth C6+7 in the Charlotte Convention Center between 22nd and 24th May. Simucube will share a stand with motion simulator experts DrivenDynamiX, and will be on the live stage discussing the Simucube 3 Ultimate on Friday, May 23 at 3 pm. - Simagic Zeus range of steering wheels will be launched on 22nd May - Modular design and premium materials promised Simagic is set to launch three new steering wheels during next week’s SimRacing Expo Charlotte (22nd-24th May), with the firm’s Zeus range finally coming to fruition. First unveiled at SimRacing Expo Dortmund in 2025, the Zeus Formula rim is a 280mm-wide Formula 1-style steering wheel with an aluminium alloy chassis and a 5mm carbon fibre front plate. It features 92 mappable inputs, customisable RGB backlights, and modular paddle compatibility for push-pull, double, and triple-style paddles. Two other steering wheels in the Zeus range will also be showcased, including what looks to be a GT3-specific rim and a circular wheel geared toward virtual rallying and drifting. The Zeus range is set to employ a modular design, which, although there’s little detail to go on at this stage, looks to be related to the screens used across all three previewed wheels (as well as the paddle configurations mentioned previously). Regardless, the wheels, which Simagic describes as its ‘most powerful ever’, are set to use premium chassis and button materials and are likely to be compatible with third-party wheelbases and SimHub, judging by Simagic’s previous products. Sergio Pires on the pace after stepping up to Pro-Am Sergio Pires has made the step up from Am to Pro-Am this year, driving the #44 Valmont Tigani Mercedes AMG alongside Brendon Leitch. Pires had enjoyed three seasons in the Am class alongside long-time driving mate Marcel Zalloua, but with Zalloua taking a step back this season, Pires made the decision to jump up to the Pro-Am class and fight for overall honours. “I’ve been driving for a few years now so I can compete up the front,” Pires said. “Brendon’s a class driver. To have someone like Brendon [in the car] makes it exciting for the season ahead.” The pair has been instantly competitive, with Pires taking a maiden Pro-Am pole position in Race 1 at The Bend, which he and Leitch converted into a maiden victory, taking a maximum 26 points from the race. Pires and Zalloua started their GTWC campaigns in an Audi R8, but have since switched to the Mercedes AMG platform in their partnership with the Tigani team. Pires explained the reasons for the switch. “I prefer the Mercedes – it’s a lot more stable in the faster stuff,” Pires said. “The Audi’s probably a bit pointier and better at tracks like Queensland Raceway. “But Tigani Racing is a Mercedes AMG Dealer now, so that was part of the reason for the swap.” Pires and Leitch sit fifth overall in the GTWC Australia standings, only 15 points away from the leaders. 'Forza Horizon 6' Review: A Grand Adventure Through Japan

Forza's Horizon games appear to take place in an alternate universe with specific rules. It is a world where cars come first over everything else, where every fifth garage contains an abandoned collector vehicle, and where no car ever leaves the factory with enough rear grip to avoid a slide on the way out of a corner. If that all floats your boat, the latest installment in the franchise, Forza Horizon 6, is probably going to work for you, too. From the very first teaser, the powers behind Forza Horizon have made clear that the core difference between Horizon 6 and its predecessors is that it takes place in Japan. It's a long-requested destination for a series that's built from the ground up around the idea of adventuring in cars through new regions, and the game does everything it can to embrace that idea. Half of the game's progression, including access to things like houses and special Barn Find cars, are locked behind the "Discover Japan" progression tree. This is entirely separate from the usual Horizon festival progression system—and as a direct result, it rewards interacting with the Japan setting itself rather than interacting with the usual Horizon festival events. Rather than being rewarded for racing and showing off, Discover Japan stamps are handed out based on things like home ownership, scenic photography, and your willingness to drive a food delivery Kei truck through Tokyo. The most interesting element tied to this system are stories scattered throughout the map—effectively side quest chains that focus on some of the game's scripted characters. These help a lot with past complaints that Horizon worlds never quite felt lived in, although the game still ultimately feels more like an empty playground for cars to explore than anything else. Rennsport teases HWA EVO restomod

A new car looks set to join the Rennsport roster, as the embattled sim racing game has teased the HWA EVO. Hans Werner Aufrecht’s (HWA) German motosport and development firm has a long association with Mercedes-Benz – Hans was a founder of AMG. While its latest model isn’t officially sanctioned, it’s a modern-day interpretation (or extreme ‘restomod’) of the 190E Cosworth from the 1980s. The outfit will create 100 versions for the road, and as part of the development process, is competing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, including this coming week’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Rennsport’s brief video teaser shows a shadowy silhouette, but we can spot the EVO tanks to its blocky proportions. It’s also the race version thanks to the additional spotlights. There’s no release window for this model yet, as a switch from Nacon to self-publishing on consoles has delayed game updates and DLC. Originally slated for March, there’s now the intention of this month instead for the release. “The targeted May release of Endurance Classics Part 1 remains our priority, but we’re already shaping the grid for what comes after,” reads the social media caption. McLaren entice Intel back to F1 with compute partnership

Intel will support McLaren in turning large volumes of data captured from the car, track and other environments into actionable insight through secure and scalable processing capabilities. The tech giant will also deploy trackside edge computing, which processes data close to the point of collection to reduce latency and reliance on centralised cloud platforms, to enable real-time analytics and race day decision making. The deal marks Intel’s return to Formula One after a 17-year absence. Its last partnership with BMW Sauber concluded in 2009 following the German manufacturer’s exit from the sport. Intel also had smaller deals with Toyota and Williams in the 2000s. Intel becomes the latest tech firm to join McLaren’s Formula One partnership programme, which has been structured to accommodate multiple vendors. Cisco focuses on networking and cybersecurity, Dell Technologies provides hardware and other physical infrastructure, and Google provides cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) software. Intel branding will appear on the Formula One team’s cars from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards. One of the team’s IndyCar entries will carry Intel branding at this year’s race in Washington DC and next season’s Indianapolis 500. The company’s logo will also appear on the on-stage simulators for McLaren’s sim racing team at the final event of this month’s Sim Racing World Championship. Intel has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with F1's legendary McLaren Racing team. The chipmaker is now the Official Compute Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, and McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team, according to a press release today. Interestingly, this announcement again pits Intel against its PC chip industry nemesis, AMD. The Red Team has already been working in partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team for six years. Intel's PR blurb says F1 racing is "one of the world’s most technologically demanding sports." Thus, Intel engineers will be tasked with delivering advanced computing for AI and high-performance architectures that are required to keep McLaren competitive. The new agreement means that systems using Intel Xeon and Core Ultra chips will be leveraged to support McLaren's quest for the ultimate performance on the track. Specific calculations that F1 engineers spend their days optimizing for include "performance-critical workloads, including computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamic analysis, vehicle-dynamics simulation, [and] race strategy analytics." As well as real-time data, F1 support computers are used to sift through massive volumes of post-race data. Computers used to optimize F1 racing cars are also increasingly using AI tools, plus low-latency edge computing solutions, and diverse software platforms. "Formula 1 racing and IndyCar are some of the ultimate proving grounds for high-performance computing. Intel is proud to be McLaren Racing’s compute partner, and to be part of a team that thrives on precision, speed, and innovation," said Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO.
