<b>Autonomous</b> freight developer Einride goes public via SPAC

Einride AB, a company developing electric and autonomous freight operations, said it will be going public via a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Legato Merger Corp. III’s shareholders voted to approve the business combination earlier this month. “At Einride, we are redesigning the way freight moves,” stated Roozbeh Charli, CEO of Einride. “We are building the world’s most efficient freight network, and going public gives us the platform to deploy our electric and autonomous technologies at the speed this market demands.” Founded in 2016, Einride said it designs, develops, and deploys freight technology systems to accelerate the transition to future-proofed transportation. Its platform includes connected electric and autonomous heavy-duty vehicles, charging infrastructure, and an intelligent freight operating system. Einride follows steps to autonomous freight The Einride platform combines cableless autonomous fleets, software, and human-driven electric trucks to decarbonize, automate, and secure global supply chains. The Stockholm-based company‘s licensed teams continuously oversee autonomous operations via Saga, its AI-powered operating system. When Einride sets out to deploy its autonomous vehicles, it starts by identifying high-volume, repetitive routes where autonomy can deliver the strongest utilization, cost efficiency, and operational stability. Then, the company said it evaluates infrastructure, site interfaces, traffic conditions, and regulatory pathways to create a deployment plan and timeline. Next, Einride digitally models and stress-tests its routes before launch, which it claimed reduces risk and protects service levels from Day 1. It asserted that all of its vehicles operate under permit and integrate into live freight flows, with real-time oversight and defined response protocols. Once the vehicles are deployed. <b>Self-driving truck</b> nailed the tightest test yet — and Japan just changed the game

A self-driving truck just glided through a spot where even seasoned long-haul drivers ease off and grip the wheel with both hands. Japan’s T2 has taken a leap that felt years away just a couple of seasons ago: its autonomous big rig cleared a highway toll gate — no hands on the wheel, no flip to manual, no safety net. For a passenger car, that’s a yawn. For a 2.5-metre-wide tractor squeezing into a corridor barely three metres across, it’s an engineering exam with almost no margin on either side. Curbs, gear, a gate, and zero room for error. The run used a Level 2 truck, but T2 is already aiming squarely at Level 4 — the moment the cab no longer needs a human in it at all. The tests went down in May 2026 at two points at once: Ayase Smart IC on the Tomei Expressway in Kanagawa, and Nishinomiya-kita IC on the Chugoku Expressway in Hyogo. How did the rig even fit? A combo of pre-mapped, high-precision 3D data and on-board LiDAR. The system matched live sensor reads against the stored map on the fly and held its line within centimetres. On top of that, the truck was taught to read the ETC gate itself — so it could decide on its own whether to push through, instead of nosing into a closed barrier. T2 isn’t just building a truck. Daimler <b>Truck's</b> Hydrogen Small Series Begins with DACHSER

DACHSER will become the first company in the world to operate Daimler Truck’s new Mercedes-Benz NextGenH2 Truck, marking an important step in the real-world evaluation of hydrogen fuel-cell technology for long-distance freight. Starting at the end of December 2026, DACHSER will begin using the first of three Mercedes-Benz NextGenH2 truck tractors equipped with liquid hydrogen technology. Two additional trucks of the same model are expected to follow by mid-2027. The vehicles will be based at DACHSER’s Karlsruhe logistics center in Germany and will operate primarily in long-distance transport, where the company and Daimler Truck expect the technology to demonstrate its range and operational flexibility. The three trucks are part of a small series of 100 Mercedes-Benz NextGenH2 Trucks that Daimler Truck plans to deliver to selected customers beginning at the end of December 2026. Volume production is scheduled to begin in the early 2030s. For commercial transportation, the deployment reflects the multi-technology path many fleets and OEMs are taking toward lower-emission freight. Battery-electric trucks are already moving into daily operations across regional and some long-haul applications, while hydrogen fuel-cell trucks are being evaluated for routes where long range, high payload, and shorter refueling times could provide operational advantages. “In logistics, if we want to sustainably reduce greenhouse gases and air pollutants from long-distance transport and, in the long term, replace diesel trucks completely, what we need is powerful and efficient zero-emission vehicles,” said Stefan Hohm, chief development officer at DACHSER. “Development work on battery-electric trucks has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. These vehicles are reliable, they operate very well, and some volume-produced vehicles now even have a range of over 500 kilometers. But getting ahold of sufficient grid connection capacity for them remains a major challenge.” DACHSER currently has more than 190 electric trucks in daily
