Earlier this month, a Ferrari F355 Challenge arcade machine was listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, a website known better for auctioning off actual Ferraris.
I’ve written about such a sale before and wasn’t about to retread that ground, until I saw the price this particular cabinet went for: $18,000.
F355 Challenge was developed for the NAOMI arcade platform, which was functionally a Dreamcast home console with more RAM.
If you play F355 Challenge now, it won’t feel like a very realistic experience.
That answers the “why $18,000” question, I suppose, but beyond F355 Challenge’s historical significance and the near museum-quality condition of this particular example, it’s worth considering the state of modern gaming.

They’d break away early as a big battle for third commenced, in which Nico Nunninghoff went off at Indianapolis after contact with Caique Oliveira.

Featuring a grid of 44 Le Mans Prototype 2 cars including four wild card entries, the IMSA Resilient Racers 240 charity event will take place on 12th September, with the race lasting for two hours and 40 minutes.
The top 40 drivers qualified in a Time Attack round and will be driving Dallara P217s with a fixed race setup.
As part of the Resilient Racers program, the esports race will raise funds for the Austin Hatcher Foundation and Camp Boggy Creek charities via in-race donations.
Mirroring the real-life Resilient Racers charity event, each car in the virtual race will be adorned with the name of a child chosen by the two charities.

Before last weekend's events at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli and CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series competitors practiced on race simulators at HIP Motorsports.
The event gathered many of the top racers in the series to try out the venue's top-notch racing simulators, turning laps on the virtual replica of the 2.459-mile circuit located in Bowmanville, Ontario.
