Dallas (KDAF) – Racing enthusiasts and those looking for a new night out or daytime experience have a new destination in Dallas. Velocity Sim Racing Lounge, a Texas-exclusive hospitality concept combining advanced racing simulators, chef-driven dining and nightlife, is now open at The Hill at 9830 N. Central Expressway. Founded by Viet Tran, Velocity is designed to offer more than a traditional racing simulator experience. The Dallas location features more than 30 racing rigs, ranging from setups designed for beginners to advanced equipment for experienced racers. It’s the largest sim racing destination in Texas. “We have different levels of racing rigs from first-time racer to wanting to race like the pros,” said Viet Tran, founder of Velocity. “Each rig has a unique feeling and real-life accelerating feeling of being on the racetrack.” The experience also allows guests to watch friends race in real time on a large format TV wall or gather around the central bar for food, cocktails and watch parties. Tran said Dallas was a natural choice for the company’s second location. “We love the car community and family-focused community here in Dallas and want to be able to cater to both,” Tran said. The Dallas location also puts a major emphasis on its culinary program, offering a globally inspired menu designed to complement the racing experience. Guests can choose from shareable appetizers, entrees, handhelds and desserts. Favorites include the warm feta dip, Mediterranean steak tacos, apple turnovers, cauliflower wings and crispy avocado tacos. Velocity also is looking to become part of the Dallas community through events and programming. That includes girls’ nights, watch parties and other opportunities for guests to socialize beyond the racing. The McLaren W1 will be in Forza Horizon 6, and sooner rather than later, arriving on 10th September. This is according to the car manufacturer itself, which has confirmed its new range-topping hypercar for the British Automotive Series update. The free Festival Playlist update is slated to include three new-to-Horizon British cars available to earn, while the W1 is specifically stated to be part of the related Car Pass DLC. The Car Pass is included with the Deluxe and Premium editions of the game, or is available as a separate DLC season pass. There will be 30 cars available in total once the roll-out is complete. Each car available within it is available as a separate DLC purchase too for $2.99/£2.99. On the 10th September, alongside this McLaren, a further three new-to-Horizon Car Pass additions will be confirmed. “Forza Horizon 6 players will soon be able to own and drive the latest car in McLaren’s ‘1’ car lineage in-game, as the McLaren W1 joins the action on 10 September,” said the car company. “Introduced to players as part of the British Automotive Series update for the title, the car will be exclusively available to those who have purchased the Car Pass downloadable content (DLC) pack, and added directly to their in-game garage as part of the latest release of vehicles for this DLC.” The W1 is a natural successor to the pioneer P1 and F1 supercars, featuring a mid-mounted hybrid V8 powertrain with 1258bhp. It has not been in another race game officially to date. Game developer Playground Games and publisher Microsoft are expected to announce further details about the next game update next week. Stuntman Hollywood tested: Cinematic action without the challenge We tested Stuntman: Hollywood, which sees you drive through visually spectacular movie action, but so far (and it remains work-in-progress) lacks the stern test we desire. When I was testing a work-in-progress build of Stuntman Hollywood, there was a moment of sheer, unadulterated joy. It happened when I was skidding sideways underneath a dinosaur, surrounded by a luscious island topography and hearing a modern remix of John Williams’s rousing Jurassic Park theme tune. This moment encapsulates what this series reboot does best. Official licences, spectacular visuals (thanks to Unreal Engine 5 tech) and a bombastic sense of fun. After all, being a Hollywood stunt driver, for many, is a dream job. I know it is mine. Sadly, I wasn’t blessed with the skill, nor budget, to refine my driving skills into the next Ben Collins or Mark Higgins. Here, I could live out my fantasies of being a pro driver, slewing through London streets in a faux Ford Capri, or trying to jump a sidecar (bike, not cocktail) in an Indiana Jones-aping scene. A sequel, by different developers, arrived in 2007, with the same basic premise. For fans of the original, it lacked appeal, mainly due to looser vehicle handling. For those who never played the first, however, it is remembered fondly. Which brings us to Hollywood, the third game in this series and the second reboot attempt. It takes the tried and true formula of you playing a driving professional on the set of a TV show and movies, tasked with chaining together vehicle sequences into one fluid scene. G-STAR 2026 has announced its first ticket sales and a new special pass ahead of the gaming convention’s return to BEXCO in Busan from November 19 to 22.
The G-STAR Organizing Committee has partnered with KREAM to introduce a Special Pass combining a BTC admission ticket with a Yumi’s Cells collaboration keyring, promotional card and KREAM voucher.
The pass will make its debut at a G-STAR pop-up store at Hyundai Department Store’s Pangyo branch from September 1 to 6. Visitors can purchase the package at an early-bird price of 20,000 won for adults and 10,000 won for youth, representing discounts of up to 33%.
The Special Pass will then go on sale exclusively through KREAM beginning September 7.
The Pangyo pop-up will also feature a Hyundai Motor sim racing esports experience, G-STAR and Yumi’s Cells merchandise and events offering prizes including Special Passes and invitations.
For visitors only interested in attending G-STAR, regular BTC ticket reservations open September 29 through the official G-STAR website. Adult tickets will cost 18,000 won and youth tickets 8,000 won.
This year’s event will operate entirely through advance reservations, with no regular onsite ticket sales planned.

Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola believes his team can "learn a lot" from Marc Marquez, praising the Ducati rider's "intelligence and ability" in recent races. Marquez claimed his fourth victory in six grands prix at Aragon last weekend to move up to second place in the championship, splitting the Aprilias of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. While the reigning world champion has pounced on all big opportunities over the last three months, he has also largely limited the damage when things weren't going his way, scoring 13 points at Assen and adding another 10 at Silverstone. It's a strategy Marquez has never shied from admitting to, aware that his battered right arm and Ducati's relative technical disadvantage prevents him from repeating the dominant run he enjoyed in 2025. Following Aragon, Rivola heaped praise on his rival Marquez, adding that Aprilia's riders could learn from his approach to managing the championship. "We know we have an opponent like Marquez, who is one of the greatest riders in history. Having the honour of trying to beat him is fantastic. iRacing increased its subscription prices on August 18, 2026, raising the cost of remaining on one of sim racing’s longest-running online platforms. Two weeks later, iRacing has not published subscriber or cancellation data that would show whether the increase has caused a significant number of members to leave. What has changed is the discussion around value. The higher subscription price comes on top of a business model where many cars and tracks are purchased separately, making the financial impact very different for a veteran with a large content library and a new member still building one. A customer also does not need to cancel iRacing to react to the increase. They can remain subscribed while buying fewer cars, concentrating on fewer championships or waiting for discounts before extending their membership. That behaviour would be almost impossible to measure without access to iRacing’s internal sales data. How much more expensive is iRacing? The new iRacing subscription prices came into effect on August 18, 2026. We covered the complete change, including the old and new rates, in our iRacing subscription price increase breakdown. - 1 month: $14.75, previously $13.00 - 3 months: $37.50, previously $33.00 - 12 months: $124.50, previously $110.00 - 24 months: $222.50, previously $199.00 The annual subscription therefore increased by approximately 13.2%, while the two-year plan rose by around 11.8%. Prices for individual cars and tracks did not increase at the same time. iRacing described the change as only its second subscription price increase in nearly 20 years. The Red Bull Formula 1 team has confirmed it has hired long-time Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough to replace McLaren bound Gianpiero Lambiase as head of racing. Lambiase will join McLaren in 2028 to become its chief racing officer, reporting into team principal Andrea Stella. The Briton is currently serving a dual role at the team as Max Verstappen's race engineer, dovetailing those duties with a more overarching "head of racing" position. As previously reported, Verstappen's former performance engineer Tom Hart has decided against a move to Williams to take over the race engineer role starting in 2027. The Milton Keynes squad has now also found a successor for Lambiase as head of racing in the shape of Aston Martin man McCullough. "We're delighted to welcome Tom to the team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise he will bring to the role," the team shared in a statement. Gianpiero Lambiase is set to depart Red Bull by 2028 at the latest. McCullough was a long-time servant of Aston Martin through its Force India and Racing Point days, performing the chief race engineer role for four seasons before becoming its performance director, a job which he held until the end of the 2024 season. As part of a restructuring of the team in early 2025, McCullough's duties were taken on by previous team principal Mike Krack. McCullough was shifted to non-F1 projects at Aston Martin Performance Technologies in a senior leadership role, which he is now set to vacate. The 50-year-old, who started his career at chassis builder Reynard, also served spells at Sauber and Williams. Stanley Marketplace has, for the first time, traded on the marketplace. Local investor and developer Magnetic Capital on Monday purchased the 140,000-square-foot Aurora market hall and the 20 acres it sits on at 2501 N. Dallas St. for $40.9 million. Flightline Ventures and Westfield Co., the 50/50 partnership that launched the marketplace in 2016, were the sellers in the deal. “Stanley Marketplace, it really is a critical retail hub for this market. There’s nothing else like this, and if you want that level of authenticity, you have to go to Denver to get it,” said Chris Carroll, managing partner at Magnetic. Magnetic doesn’t have any big, immediate changes planned. “Our job isn’t to reinvent the marketplace, it’s to protect it. We’re really focused on thoughtful investments in the building and the guest experience,” said Dan Huml, Magnetic’s other managing partner. The main focus will be on connecting the marketplace with the recently improved Westerly Creek on the western edge of the Stanley’s property, Huml and Carroll said. The area received a $14 million facelift that rerouted the waterway to give way to more open space and walking paths. Another priority will be getting the marketplace active at Denver International Airport. Stanley is expecting to take spaces in both the Jeppesen Terminal and Concourse A. Axios reported in May that a JLL financing memo stated that Magnetic was interested in building a hotel and more apartments on the property. “There’s a lot of noise around that. Australian sim racing competitor Gregory Przybyl has been announced as the newest Development Driver for Ferrari Esports, marking a significant milestone in the young Australian’s competitive sim racing career. Przybyl’s Ferrari opportunity represents the culmination of years of dedication, admitting there were times when he questioned reaching a development seat was possible. “To be representing Ferrari is a dream I’ve had since being a kid. After the latest updates introduced by Aston Martin, Carlos Sainz believes they are now in a different league compared to Williams. Williams had another weekend to forget at the Dutch Grand Prix, which also ended with contact between the team's two drivers. Meanwhile, Aston Martin's latest changes helped Fernando Alonso score points on an alternative strategy. After the race, Sainz was clear in his verdict. He told GPblog, among others: "We are pretty much where we expected, which is towards the back. We are only quicker than Cadillac at the moment. You saw the Astons, in race pace, they are a different league right now. We couldn’t fight them. We couldn’t fight anyone really. “At the end of the race, Alex and I are just having fun, and unfortunately, I did this mistake where I was caught off-guard with a front lock into Turn 1 on the bump. But honestly, it’s not like we were fighting for much," he said about the incident. Sainz is not surprised The Spaniard continued: "If you look at the last five races, this is where we’ve been for the last five races, so it is where we are. We’ve had a very tough weekend on my side with some inconsistency of the parts, which haven’t allowed me to set up the car correctly for the race. "We have to learn from it, as there will be some interesting data points to go through as a team with the struggles that I’ve had, as we will be able to, for sure, conclude on them and probably it will help us to understand better in the future." Asetek’s Dual Mode Shifter and Load Cell Handbrake to be released in October
Danish company set to appear at SimRacing Expo Frankfurt, 16-18th October
First announced in 2025 and publicly revealed at SimRacing Expo Charlotte this year, Asetek Racing’s Dual Mode Shifter and Load Cell Handbrake now have a firm release window.
Slated for October, we tested the Danish firm’s new peripherals in person and were impressed by their functionality.
The Dual Mode Shifter – as you’d guess – features both H-pattern and sequential modes, with eight ratios available. You can switch modes with a button under the unit, and a blanking piece locks out the extraneous gates for sequential use. This should go on sale for $219.
Asetek’s Load Cell Handbrake features a mammoth 200 Kg load cell and also features dual modes of sorts, and is switchable between axis- or button-activated operation, and is set to cosr $179 when it finally goes on sale.
Asetek was recently acquired by Suzhou Chunqiu Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. in a deal worth around $82M, and has plans to expand its future sim racing lineup.

Motorsports come with a different approach. The cost of racing in almost any motorsport has seen a consistent rise from traveling, the vehicles and racer entry. At the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), the members at Gold Trail Racing are trying to create more opportunities for UTEP students who share the same dream. UTEP junior mechanical engineering major Edgar Alvarez was one of the original founders of the team. “There was a lot of work that went into creating this organization; enlisting it in UTEP, going to pitch the idea to the business side of things at UTEP,” Alvarez said. “And how that happened, why we went to business instead of engineering. We saw that we could do a lot with the business side of things, because when you first start an organization, especially a racing team, you’re going to need a ton of funding.” Alvarez believes raising funds through business and marketing should come first, then invite the engineering aspect of it after. They pitched the idea to the now advisor of the program, Professor James J. Hoffman. President and driver of the team, Santiago Arras, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering, has been into racing from a young age. “It started with a really old anime that my dad used to put me to watch called Speed Racer,” Arras said. “That’s how I got into touch with racing, but I never truly fully pursued it. Only until 2020, 2021 is when I was introduced to the world of karting.” Arras raced around different parts of the U.S. such as Austin, Texas and Pheonix. He’s also part of a karting club in El Paso. Mahindra may have been the last manufacturer to begin the test programme for its Gen4 challenger, but there is optimism within the camp that it will be able to catch up to its rivals, even if it ends up starting the 2026-27 Formula E season on the back foot. The Indian manufacturer pulled off one of the most remarkable transformations in Formula E history, going from being the slowest manufacturer at the start of the Gen3 era to becoming a multiple race-winning outfit by its conclusion. In fact, Mahindra ended up third in the teams' championship in 2025-26, only behind FE heavyweights Jaguar and Porsche. But Gen4 is a different beast, and while manufacturers can carry over some of their learnings from the previous generation, the new regulations have effectively created a fresh development race. Mahindra isn't shy about admitting that it is behind the curve when it comes to the development of the car. Having received approval from the company's board in Mumbai only in November last year, at a time when its rivals had already started putting hybrid versions of their Gen3/Gen4 prototypes on track, it was always going to play catch up. Mahindra then missed its original target of beginning testing in May due to supplier issues and "risk management decisions", further compressing the development timeline ahead of the start of the new season in December this year. It wasn't until mid-July that the team shook down the car for the first time in the UK, with first fully-fledged tests following shortly afterwards. Asetek Racing has confirmed a release window for two of its most anticipated upcoming sim racing peripherals, with the company’s new Dual Mode Shifter and Load Cell Handbrake scheduled to arrive in October 2026. The Danish manufacturer confirmed the timing through its official Asetek Racing account, following several months of previews and software preparations for both devices. Asetek has not yet announced an exact launch day or final retail pricing, but the October window means both products are now only weeks away from joining its expanding sim racing ecosystem. Asetek Dual Mode Shifter Combines Two Gearbox Types The most notable of the two products is the Asetek Dual Mode Shifter, which is designed to provide both H-pattern and sequential shifting from a single unit. That approach allows sim racers to move between traditional manual cars and sequential race cars without requiring two separate shifters mounted to the cockpit. Asetek has already started preparing its software ecosystem for the new hardware. RaceHub 4.5 introduced support for the Dual Mode Shifter and Load Cell Handbrake in August, despite neither device being commercially available at the time. The software update suggested that development was approaching its final stages, but Asetek had not previously provided a firm retail window. October 2026 is now the first clear indication of when customers should expect the hardware to become available.
