Max Verstappen explained that it is not easy for him to leave his family behind and travel around the world. That's especially true when it comes to his daughter, Lily. Lily Verstappen , the first child Kelly Piquet and Max Verstappen have together, was born ahead of last year's Miami Grand Prix. She is now more than a year old and is beginning to understand more about the world. The four-time world champion said to Formule 1 Magazine: "Our daughter Lily is my greatest achievement. Family is the most important thing to me anyway." According to the Dutchman, it is now difficult to leave his home. "Yes, that is starting to happen now. For example, when I flew here, the little one was standing by the elevator at home when I got in to go down. And then the doors close; well, that’s not a very nice feeling. "She had just woken up. I had taken her out of bed and cuddled her a bit, and then I had to leave. Those aren't nice moments when you have to leave. You know it’s part of the deal." The Red Bull Racing driver explained that he had experienced the same when his father, Jos, was competing. "I know I did that myself when I was little and my father left home. Crying and stuff. My father always found that difficult too." Verstappen gives honest verdict on Red Bull's first half of the season Verstappen says it has been a "tough" first half of the season after the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver is still searching for his first Formula 1 victory of 2026. The Dutchman had a clear verdict. "Tough. In general, it’s been very tough. Some good moments, some bright, shining moments, I guess, but overall, tough."

Alongside this week’s regular new event, Polyphony has added a limited-time special tied to Round 2 of the 2026 Gran Turismo World Series (happening Saturday, August 15), and earning a bronze time pays double the standard credit rate. The special puts the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 around Deep Forest Raceway on Racing Soft tires. It mirrors the Nations Cup Qualifying race that the real World Series field will run at the event, and Polyphony has expanded the target time to make Bronze more attainable this time around, with any time in the top 20% earning you a quick 500,000cr there. You should expect a lap roughly under 1:21.000 to get you there. Sport Mode is running a couple of other World Series tie-ins later this week too, but the Time Trial is the best chance to measure your own lap directly against many of the drivers who will be racing live in a little over a week. New Regular Event: Cobra Daytona Coupe at Daytona For the new regular event, GT7 pairs the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe ’64 with the Daytona Road Course on Sports Soft tires. It’s a nice pairing, as the Daytona Coupe takes its name from the track where it made its competition debut in 1964. Carroll Shelby’s team built the coupe body because the standard Cobra roadster was too much of a brick at high speed, putting it at a real disadvantage on the longer straights on European tracks. There’s also a week left on last week’s event, which keeps the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ’69 at Alsace’s Village layout on Sports Hard tires. That one closes August 13. Editor's take: AI data centers have locked down much of the world's available chip manufacturing capacity for years to come, leaving device makers searching for new ways to extract growth from limited resources. Corsair is betting on the racing and flight simulation markets by acquiring Trak Racer, an Australia-based manufacturer of high-quality cockpits and accessories. Corsair has acquired Trak Racer, a "premium" manufacturer of simulation cockpits, seats, monitor stands, and other sim-racing equipment for enthusiasts. The US company now plans to combine Trak Racer's expertise with Fanatec, a renowned brand in the sim-racing hardware market that is fully owned by Corsair. According to Corsair, sim racing is now one of the fastest-growing product categories in the gaming industry. The company acquired Fanatec in 2024 after the German manufacturer filed for bankruptcy in July of that year. Corsair later liquidated the company but retained its employees and continued using the Fanatec brand for its simulation peripherals. While Fanatec specializes in the electronics side of simulation, including steering wheels, pedals, and shifters, Trak Racer focuses on physical components such as aluminum cockpits, racing seats, motion systems, and haptic feedback solutions. Corsair now wants to combine these complementary capabilities to build a complete platform for simulation and racing enthusiasts. According to the company's website, Trak Racer actually sells both "physical" cockpits and traditional accessories such as racing wheels and pedals. The Melbourne-based company was founded in 2008 to build professional-grade products and collaborates with Formula 1 teams on their simulation workloads. Fanatec also has longstanding ties to the world's leading motorsport competition. Trak Racer has primarily built its business by selling directly to customers through its online store. Following its acquisition by Corsair, the brand should gain access to a broader customer base thanks to Corsair's existing distribution network and retail partnerships. According

Corsair has acquired the assets of Trak Racer, expanding its sim racing and flight simulation portfolio. Trak Racer, known for manufacturing cockpits, seats, monitor stands, and motion systems, joins Corsair alongside its Fanatec brand to offer a more complete simulator lineup.
While Fanatec centers on electronics like wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, and shifters, Trak Racer focuses on physical simulator hardware. This includes aluminium and tubular cockpits, racing seats, display mounts, and haptic systems. Founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, the company gives Corsair a broader footprint across sim racing and its first proper entry into flight simulation through products like the TR550 Flight Simulator.
Trak Racer previously sold primarily direct to consumers online. Joining Corsair's network allows its cockpits and accessories to expand onto retail shelves worldwide. Both Fanatec and Trak Racer also maintain long-standing ties to Formula 1, which Corsair plans to continue developing across both brands.
KitGuru says: Combining Fanatec's electronics with Trak Racer's cockpits makes plenty of sense for Corsair as it looks to offer complete, all-in-one sim racing and flight setups. Now that Track Racer product availability will likely improve, are you planning on buying something from the brand?

A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges arrives this Friday, August 7, once your console clock rolls past midnight into the new week. Five events are up for grabs over the next seven days, along with the usual run of bonus tickets for anyone who clears them. If you’re new to the format, Weekly Challenges unlock once you’ve cleared the GT Cafe career through Menu Book 39 and sat through the ending movie. Each set pairs four standard World Circuits races with one Special Event built just for the week, and completing them earns bonus tickets at one, three, and five events finished, delivered to your Gifts and needing to be redeemed before the set expires. Clear the whole thing with clean race bonuses intact and there’s roughly 1.3m credits in cash and prizes on the table. This Week’s Highlights The Special Event is a time trial this week, and it’s a quick one. Gran Turismo 7 sends the BAC Mono ’16 around the National Layout at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a stripped-down loop short enough that a clean lap should come in comfortably under 40 seconds. Bronze requires a 40.300 or better for 12,000cr, Silver drops that to 38.100 for 18,000cr, and Gold pays out 30,000cr. It’s also worth noting Catalunya is doing double duty this week, hosting a second event on its GP Layout. That second Catalunya appearance is the Schwarzwald League, a seven-lap race for German cars capped at 700PP that pays 88,000cr for the win, the second-highest reward of the set. The headline payout, though, belongs to the World Touring Car 800 finale at Yas Marina Circuit: 200,000cr for a 10-lap, 800PP-capped race on Racing tires, with tire wear cranked to 7x and fuel consumption to 3x to make sure pit strategy actually matters. Moza Racing began life as a division of Chinese firm Gudsen Technology. Since 2021, the brand has produced a range of new sim racing and flight simulator peripherals, including pedals, shifters, handbrakes, a motion platform and digital display units. However, its lineup of wheelbases and steering wheels has really put the company on the sim racing map, with an almost overwhelming number of products streaming out from its Shenzhen headquarters. With such a large array of products, it can be difficult to pick out the best, so we’ve collated a list of what we think are Moza’s best options across several categories below. Best Moza round steering wheel for rallying and drifting The CS Pro is a PC-compatible steering wheel dripping with functionality. Ideal for virtual drifting, rallying and road car driving, the CS Pro is available from $329 / €349 / £319 and features eight adjustable RGB-backed buttons, four 12-position rotary encoders, two seven-way funky switches, two thumbwheels and two new ‘brake magic’ buttons to the rear of its plastic and forged carbon chassis. In addition, there is a 2.99-inch screen, a pair of shifter paddles and a pair of analogue clutch paddles, with scope to add a third set. It doesn’t lack inputs, then. Much like the CS Pro, the KS Pro packs in a ton of functionality into its 300mm-wide chassis. Available from $329 / €349 / £319, the KS Pro has the same 2.99-inch touchscreen as the CS Pro, plus an improved forged carbon finish over the original KS. Some of the quality control issues with its predecessor have also been ironed out, for a much more solid driving experience. The wheel comes with four bronze-coloured thumbwheels, two seven-way funky switches, two ‘brake magic’ buttons, five rotary encoders, 12 buttons and two pairs of paddles. It’s

Wreckfest 2 arrived in early access in March 2025. Since then, through a series of significant updates, there’s no doubt it looks sharper, handles better, has crunch(ier?) damage and some interesting game modes.
But… 17 months on, we can’t help but think something is missing compared to the bombastic original.
There’s still time, as a release date for exiting early access and hitting PS5 and Xbox isn’t confirmed yet, but is it time to become slightly worried? John Munro explores, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below

- Primary Subject: Porsche Licensing History in Racing Games - Key Update: A comprehensive retrospective exploring Electronic Arts' sixteen-year exclusive Porsche licensing deal, the rise of RUF, and how Porsche's return changed racing games. - Status: Confirmed - Last Verified: August 6, 2026 - Quick Answer: Electronic Arts held exclusive Porsche video game rights from 2000 to 2016, forcing rival racing franchises to use sublicenses or RUF stand-ins. The first time I drove a RUF CTR in Gran Turismo, I had no idea what I was looking at. The game called it a Yellowbird and described the maker as a German sports car marque, which told me nothing. It looked like a 911. It sounded like a 911. Nobody in the game would say the word Porsche, and it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out why. The answer was a contract signed in 2000 that shaped which cars you could drive for the next sixteen years. The Deal That Started With Porsche Unleashed Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed arrived in 2000, and it remains one of the strangest entries in the series. EA built an entire game around one manufacturer, spanning the 356 through to the 996 Turbo, with a Factory Driver mode that cast you as a Porsche test driver rather than a street racer. The marketing at the time promised seventy models covering the company's whole history. Around that release, EA secured the exclusive license to Porsche in games. No public figure has ever been attached to the deal, and anyone quoting you a number is guessing. What is documented is the effect. For the next decade and a half, if you wanted a car with a Porsche badge, you played an EA game, or paid EA for the privilege. Gran Turismo Just Went Without

Corsair has acquired the assets of Australian simulation-hardware company Trak Racer, extending its push into a corner of gaming where a single customer can spend thousands, and in some configurations tens of thousands, of dollars assembling one system. Financial terms were not disclosed. Corsair also did not identify the specific legal entities, assets or liabilities included in the transaction, and did not provide revenue or profitability figures for Trak Racer. Founder Matt Sten will join Corsair as chief technology officer for Sim Solutions, according to the announcement. The Melbourne-based company brings a catalog of aluminum-profile and tubular cockpits, seats, monitor mounts, motion and haptic systems, and flight-simulation products. Corsair said Trak Racer will complement Fanatec, the German sim racing brand it acquired in 2024, which focuses principally on wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals and shifters. That division points toward a more vertically integrated product strategy: Fanatec supplies the electronic controls, Trak Racer supplies the structure around them, and Corsair can add gaming PCs, monitors, streaming equipment and other peripherals from elsewhere in its portfolio. “Trak Racer meaningfully expands Fanatec’s sim racing lineup, bringing an extensive cockpit and accessories portfolio and a passionate, loyal community that we’re excited to welcome to the Fanatec family,” Corsair CEO Thi La said in the company’s release. Sten framed the deal around distribution, saying Corsair’s “global distribution and retail infrastructure, paired with Fanatec’s engineering strength and product portfolio, will let us bring Trak Racer products to a much larger audience while staying true to the community that helped build this brand.” The acquisition extends a sim racing expansion that began before Corsair owned Fanatec. In June 2024, Corsair unveiled a prototype modular sim racing cockpit at Computex, promising a steel frame that could shift between an upright GT position and a semi-reclined, Formula-style one. In twelve years, the torque output of sim racing wheel bases has multiplied nearly twentyfold. The real cars they are meant to simulate still produce exactly what they produced back then. On 1 August 2026, Sim-Lab opened reservations for its first two direct drive wheel bases. The smaller one delivers 26 Nm. The larger one delivers 39. That is the highest figure a consumer wheel base has ever carried, four above the previous ceiling, and the reaction online was immediate and predictable. Somebody asked who exactly they were planning to murder. The joke conceals a legitimate question the industry has spent a decade avoiding: at what point did we stop chasing realism and start chasing a number? The starting point: two newton metres and a gearbox To grasp the scale of the jump, it helps to remember where we came from. A consumer-grade geared wheel, the kind Logitech still sells today for a couple of hundred euros, produces a little over two newton metres. Belt-driven systems, one rung up, push that to three or four. For nearly two decades, that was the ceiling of what an enthusiast could have at home. The problem was not just the force. Between the motor and the driver’s hands sat gears, belts and pulleys, and every one of those components ate part of the information. What reached the wheel was a filtered, flattened, slightly delayed version of what the simulator had calculated. Kerb strikes arrived rounded off. Loss of grip arrived late. 2013: the people who removed the belt The idea of bolting a steering wheel straight onto a motor shaft did not come from the games industry. It came from industrial automation. In Tampere, Finland, a company called Granite Devices had been building control electronics for servo motors since 2006. Its founder arrived

Corsair has bought Trak Racer, placing the Australian cockpit manufacturer alongside Fanatec. The founder joins as CTO, Hot Wheels and Porsche licensing come with it, and Corsair now owns most of a sim rig. Corsair Gaming announced on 5 August 2026 that it has acquired all the assets of Trak Racer, the Melbourne-based manufacturer of racing and flight simulation cockpits, frames, seats, monitor stands, motion systems and accessories. The company joins Fanatec inside Corsair’s growing simulation portfolio. No purchase price was disclosed. Trak Racer was founded in 2008 by Matt Sten and built its reputation on aluminium profile and tubular cockpits spanning entry level to professional, along with racing seats and licensed co-branded peripherals. Its signature TRX cockpit converts between a formula seating position and an upright GT orientation without tools. The founder is staying, and moving up The detail that matters most for anyone worried about what happens to the brand: Matt Sten has joined Corsair as Chief Technology Officer for SIM Solutions. That is a considerably better outcome than the last time Corsair moved in this market. When it acquired Endor AG, Fanatec’s parent, in 2024, the German company was heavily in debt and founder Thomas Jackermeier was ultimately excluded from the deal after a long and contentious process. The community reaction was correspondingly cold. In Sten’s own words, joining Corsair and Fanatec gives Trak Racer a platform to reach far more simulation enthusiasts faster than it could alone, and he framed the intention as bringing the products to a much larger audience while staying true to the community that helped build the brand. Whether that survives contact with a Nasdaq-listed parent is the open question, but starting with the founder in the chief technology seat is a different starting point entirely. How Corsair is dividing the two

Corsair has acquired the assets of Trak Racer, the Melbourne-based maker of sim racing cockpits, seats, and motion systems, bringing another well-known sim racing name under the same roof as Fanatec. It was less than two years ago that Corsair emerged as the successful buyer of Fanatec’s business and assets from its insolvent parent company Endor AG, before confirming the deal and committing to keep Fanatec’s product lines alive in September 2024. This time the circumstances are rather less dramatic, but the logic is much the same: Corsair wants to own more of the sim racing market, and Trak Racer fills an obvious gap. Fanatec’s business is centered primarily on the electronics: wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, and shifters. Trak Racer’s is everything those bolt onto, from entry-level tubular rigs up to professional-grade aluminum cockpits, along with racing seats, monitor and peripheral mounts, and motion and haptic systems. Of course, GTPlanet is an affiliate partner of both Trak Racer and Fanatec (and you can save 5% off orders with Fanatec discount code GTPLANET5). Put the two catalogs together and Corsair can now sell you an entire simulator, frame and all. That’s a meaningful shift for a company that only revealed its first sim racing rig of its own in mid-2024, shortly after it first announced its pursuit of Fanatec. Trak Racer was founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, who now joins Corsair as Chief Technology Officer for Sim Solutions. “Joining CORSAIR and Fanatec gives Trak Racer the platform to reach far more sim racing enthusiasts faster than we could on our own,” Sten said, pointing to Corsair’s global distribution network as the key benefit for the brand. Corsair CEO Thi La described the acquisition as one that “meaningfully expands Fanatec’s sim racing lineup”, welcoming what she called Trak Racer’s “passionate, loyal

Corsair just introduced new gaming keyboards with a control dial and a mouse with great battery life The company also recently acquired the racing sim peripheral maker Trak Racer. Corsair just introduced a pair of gaming keyboards and a new gaming mouse, and all three are stacked with nifty features. The Skiff 100 and Skiff 100 Plus gaming keyboards are nearly identical. Both have a rotary dial for nuanced controls, allowing users to skip complicated menus in certain situations. This is also a really good way to access volume and track controls when listening to music. Both keyboards also have 10-zone RGB lighting for dynamic effects, a detachable wrist rest with a rubber surface for ergonomic support and quiet membrane keys. The only difference between the two is that the Skiff 100 Plus has six programmable G-keys that can be customized to complete in-game commands and initiate macros. These keyboards are fully compatible with PC, Mac, Xbox and PlayStation, with no software installation required. The standard Skiff 100 costs $60, while the Skiff 100 Plus costs $70. The company has also introduced the Harpoon v2 wireless gaming mouse. This little doodad features an asymmetric ergonomic shape "built for long gaming sessions." It features the company's Marksman 26K sensor and six programmable buttons. The battery life is also impressive, offering up to 140 hours of use per charge. The mouse is compatible with PC and Mac systems, with no software installation required. The Harpoon v2 costs $70. All of these products are available to order right now. Today, it’s apparently grown lucrative enough for the brand to jump in with both feet and acquire Trak Racer for its known prowess in racing and flight sim peripherals. As a global designer and manufacturer of sim racing and flight simulation cockpits, seats, monitor stands, motion systems and accessories, Trak Racer joins the company’s portfolio of brands as a complement to Fanatec, the leading name in sim racing hardware. Founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, Trak Racer has built a loyal following among sim racing and flight sim fans with products ranging from entry-level rigs to professional-grade cockpits, giving racers of all calibres a cockpit or a driver’s seat worthy of their experience. Sten said, “CORSAIR’s global distribution and retail infrastructure, paired with Fanatec’s engineering strength and product portfolio, will let us bring Trak Racer products to a much larger audience while staying true to the community that helped build this brand,” adding that joining the company gives Trak Racer the ability to reach more racing/flight simulation fans than ever before. Matt Sten is also staying on board, joining CORSAIR as Chief Technology Officer for Sim Solutions. The acquisition gives CORSAIR its first real foothold in flight simulation. Trak Racer’s TR550 Flight Simulator provides an established starting point in the category, and the same engineering that goes into a great racing rig, including precise controls, a rock-solid frame, ergonomics, displays, motion and haptics, carries over directly to flight simulators. Chief Executive Officer of CORSAIR, Thi La, said, “Trak Racer meaningfully expands

Corsair Gaming has acquired the assets of Trak Racer, expanding its position in the rapidly growing sim racing market while extending its gaming hardware portfolio into flight simulation. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition builds on Corsair’s strategy of expanding its Gamer and Creator Peripherals segment into adjacent enthusiast categories and strengthens the company’s existing Fanatec sim racing platform with a broader range of cockpit, chassis and simulation hardware. By combining Fanatec’s electronic racing controls with Trak Racer’s physical simulator systems, Corsair is creating a more comprehensive end-to-end simulation ecosystem for consumers, professional racers and commercial customers. Founded in 2008, Melbourne-based Trak Racer designs and manufactures premium racing and flight simulation cockpits, seats, monitor stands, motion systems and related accessories. Its product portfolio spans entry-level through professional-grade systems and complements Fanatec’s lineup of wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, shifters and simulation software. Corsair said the combination creates opportunities to offer integrated hardware bundles while simplifying the purchasing process for simulation enthusiasts. The company expects the expanded portfolio to increase sales of complementary products, including cockpits, racing controls, displays, gaming PCs and accessories, while maintaining the distinct product offerings of both brands. The transaction also enhances Corsair‘s direct-to-consumer business. Trak Racer generates the majority of its sales through direct channels, giving Corsair an opportunity to leverage its global retail, distribution and e-commerce infrastructure to expand the brand’s reach into new international markets and customer segments. Beyond sim racing, the acquisition provides Corsair with an established position in the flight simulation market through Trak Racer’s TR550 Flight Simulator platform. The company said the adjacent category represents a natural extension of its existing expertise, as both racing and flight simulation rely on similar technologies, including precision controls, structural engineering, virtual reality integration, motion systems and haptic feedback. The acquisition also

Nissan Formula E Team’s most important development tool isn’t the race car; it’s a state-of-the-art simulator helping to shape the team’s on-track success Formula E race weekend. Over 9,000km from the circuit, a special ops team is working hard in the Nissan Formula E Team HQ in Paris, putting in vital and sustainable work to help drivers Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato secure more points in their pursuit of championship success. Plenty about Formula E tallies beautifully with the advancing world of driver-in-the-loop simulators. The sport’s limited track testing time and its celebrated street circuits, which can’t be recced or rehearsed in any traditional sense, both ensure a state-of-the-art sim isn’t just desirable, it’s the bedrock of a successful team. Tommaso Volpe, the managing director and team principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, explains, “With Formula E’s limited physical testing, the ability to run highly accurate simulations is crucial not only for race preparation but also for car and powertrain development. This new simulator is already helping us accelerate our engineering process, validate software and optimize the car long before we reach the circuit.” A new dawn The Dynisma DMG-1, installed at the Nissan Formula E Team HQ in 2025, helps combat the frenetic pace of a Formula E race weekend. Drivers Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato can walk each track with their engineers on the Friday morning ahead of practice, feeding vital information they pick up on surface or corner geometry changes – to which the series’ temporary city courses can be especially vulnerable – directly back to the team’s Paris base so that their race tactics can evolve via the sim ahead of the physical car running on track.
