Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Type R-erun

A new week brings a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, with three “fresh” events now live and running through next Monday. “Fresh” is a stretch this time, though: every combination on offer has already raced earlier this year. Race A puts the Honda NSX Type R ’92 back on Grand Valley – Highway 1, Sports Medium tires and a Grid Start, the same pairing that ran on March 2, just one lap shorter than this week’s six. Race B sends Gr.3 machinery to Brands Hatch’s Grand Prix layout for six laps on Racing Hards, an exact repeat of the race that ran on March 16. Race C revives the Gr.4 field at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for ten laps, also on Racing Hards, matching the event from January 12 detail for detail. Recycling Daily Races combinations isn’t new; Polyphony Digital has done this periodically for as long as the mode has existed, and it’s always a bummer. Just two weeks ago, an entire week’s lineup was repeats too. It hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community, generating plenty of justified grumbling. Adding insult to injury, there’s not much tactical depth to make up for the reruns, either. All three races skip the need for any pit stops and fuel and tire wear sit at their default 1x multipliers across the board, so there’s nothing to manage beyond stringing together clean, consistent laps. Attention, shoppers Long-awaited Kroger Marketplace ready for big debut in Little Elm After nearly two years in the making, Kroger's new Marketplace store in Little Elm is finally ready to debut. The grocery chain has set Friday, July 31 as the opening date of its 123,000-square-foot store at 26587 E. University Dr. According to a release, the store is a nearly $40 million project that will bring about 200 jobs and serve the rapidly growing communities of Little Elm, Aubrey, Providence Village, and beyond. Announced in 2024, the new location is Kroger's first Marketplace-format store to open in North Texas this year. In addition to a full-service grocery with produce, meat and seafood, floral, and pharmacy departments, the expanded concept includes home goods, apparel, toys, and other general merchandise. Shoppers also will find specialty features such as a Murray's Cheese counter, a fresh-cut fruit kiosk, and a fuel center with 14 pumps plus a grab-and-go kiosk for snacks and beverages. "This new Marketplace store reflects Kroger's long-term commitment to serving families who are putting down roots and building their future in one of the fastest-growing areas of North Texas," said Rudy DiPietro, president of Kroger's Texas Division, in a statement. The grand opening begins at 6 am on July 31, when the first shoppers through the doors will receive prizes, gift cards, and coupons for free breakfast items. Kroger also will offer grand opening discounts through August 4, including 30 cents off per gallon for Kroger Rewards members at the fuel center during the weekends of July 31-August 2 and August 7-9. The Little Elm location is Kroger's 208th store in Texas. Revving up State-of-the-art Velocity racing simulator lounge zooms into Dallas A new "eatertainment" venue devoted to virtual racing is revving up for North Dallas: Called Velocity Sim Racing Lounge, the concept combines high-tech driving simulators with a full restaurant and bar. Velocity is located at 9830 N. Central Expwy., Ste. 400, at Walnut Hill in The Hill shopping center, in the former Camp space. According to a release, it will celebrate with grand opening festivities on Saturday, July 25. Dallas is the second location for the Texas-based Velocity, after a Houston venue opened in 2025. Designed for everyone from first-time drivers to dedicated enthusiasts, the venue features a "Racer" - a beginner-friendly motion-enabled simulator - all the way up to an "Ultimate" - a full-throttle premium rig for the highest-intensity immersion available, the website says. It's the only "Ultimate" in Texas. There are also two-seat race cars available. Racers can choose from a number of cars (i.e., Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport or McLaren 570S GT4) and multiple track destinations (i.e., Monza in Italy and Zandvoort in The Netherlands). While the racing simulators are the main attraction, Velocity is designed as much for socializing as competition, with more than 30 racing rigs, a large video wall where guests can watch races in real time, and a central bar for cocktails, food, and watch parties. “Velocity is all about building community through a shared passion for cars and racing,” founder Viet Tran says in the release. “The simulators will bring people through the doors, but it's everything around them that makes them stay. Fanatec joins <b>SimRacing</b> Expo Frankfurt lineup

The roster of hardware creators for the SimRacing Expo Frankfurt continues to expand, with Fanatec now confirmed for the European event. Following its presence at the inaugural SimRacing Expo Charlotte, the German brand will attend its home event in October too. The manufacturer has a long association with the event, and in recent years, while its 2026 line-up is not yet public knowledge, has used the event to launch new products. In 2024, it showcased the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo wheel, the production-ready Bentley GT3 wheel and a new cockpit among other items. Last year, it was the turn of the Podium DD wheel base and Podium Pedals, which recently reached the first batch of customers. Now part of the Corsair business, Fanatec usually creates one of the largest and most outlandish stands at the SimRacing Expo. More details are expected closer to the event. Nacon and Artefacts Studio have released the first gameplay trailer for MXGP 26, the upcoming official video game for the FIM Motocross World Championship, showing off some of the tracks, riders, and more. MXGP 26 takes the motocross franchise to Unreal Engine 5, and the visual upgrades from that alone are impressive. Between realistic shots of the tracks and environments to the details on the machines themselves, the sim is more immersive than ever. The new first-person helmet view adds to this immersion, in addition to the new rider animations and motorcycle physics. In MXGP 26, riders react more realistically to the terrain they’re racing on, especially on jumps and turns. Plus, the rider’s gear and bike will get dirtier as the race goes on, which will depend on the weather and conditions of the track (for example, whether it’s dirt, sand, or mud). The tracks themselves have also been upgraded. With the new dynamic deformation technology, the tracks will change as riders race, just like it does in real life. Racing lines cut deep ruts in the tracks, and players will need to adapt to these every lap. Some of the tracks that will be included in MXGP 26 are Briloche in Argentina (which has volcanic soil), Riola Sardo in Sardinia (which has sand), Pietramurata in Italy (which has compact dirt), and Loket in the Czech Republic (which has hard-packed dirt). There are also elite riders from MXGP and MX2 who players can race as, including Romain Febvre, Maxime Renaux, Kay de Wolf, and Calvin Vlaanderen. Players will also be able to create their own rider and customize their bikes from championship manufacturers, like Kawasaki, Husqvarna, Yamaha, KTM, and Honda. Tech Review: Logitech G RS50 Sytem

I would say sim racing is more popular than it has ever been, but that would likely be a lie. During a recent interview with Logitech New Zealand’s National Manager Jamie Hall, it was revealed that Covid times were the peak for the hobby, and introduced a new audience to the prospect. Sales have reportedly calmed down since those times, but sim racing is still at the forefront of the e-sports world. The drive directive While Logitech has always been the go-to brand for those looking for a more immersive driving experience within their games, its products were viewed as entry level compared to other options on the market. Though the G27 and G29 wheels were the benchmark for casual gamers, they were gear-driven. This meant the in-game feedback was capped by how quickly the internals could function. It wouldn’t be until 2022 when Logitech brought its first direct drive wheel to the market in the form of the G Pro Racing Wheel. This put the brand on the map as a serious player in the sim game, and gave consumers more options when building out their rigs. This G Pro hit the market with an 11Nm, which remains near the higher end of options on the market. Given the large Nm figure, and how serious the machine was, the NZ$2,000 price tag it came with was little surprise, but meant only the more serious consumers would consider it. Late last year, Logitech brought another direct drive wheel to the market in the form of the RS50. With an 8Nm motor, and a price tag in the region of $1,300, this wheel bridges the gap between the entry-level equipment and the range-topping G Pro. Tech review: Moza R3 <b>racing</b> wheel

For years, console sim racers looking for a better experience than an entry-level setup were still limited to gear- or belt-driven wheels that often felt more like toys than professional equipment, while PC players could choose to spend excitingly more money for direct drive alternatives. However, the Moza R3 that launched in 2024 changed the landscape with the brand’s first-ever Xbox-compatible direct drive (DD) system that led gaming-tech giant Logitech to make the move downmarket with the direct drive RS50 wheel late last year. But the $729 Moza R3 Bundle (that includes the base, a wheel and pedals) aggressively undercuts the RS50 ($1300 for the wheel and base, and a further $329 for the pedals), landing instead far closer to Logitech’s $500 gear-driven G923 wheel. But let’s back up a bit and explain some of the terms being waved around here - mainly, “direct drive”. A simple explanation of the difference between the Moza R3 (and Logitech RS50) direct drive system and the Logitech G923’s gear-driven system is to think of the gear driven system as being a car with a conventional automatic transmission, while the direct drive system is like having an electric motor on each wheel. Where the G923 has to transmit its feedback and power through a series of gears, the Moza R3 doesn’t, as the wheel is connected directly to the force feedback electric motor. This translates into instant responses, smoother steering and considerably more detail being transmitted through the wheel. In other words, much better and considerably more realistic. Plus, they’re also significantly quieter to boot. Forza Horizon 6 is 100 times better with a <b>racing</b> seat

Forza Horizon has always occupied a strange place in racing games. It's more approachable than simulation-heavy racers like Assetto Corsa or iRacing, but it's also far more nuanced than people sometimes give it credit for. On a controller, it's easy to lose yourself in the spectacle — especially in the lush Japanese setting of Forza Horizon 6. Blasting through rural fields, drifting around sweeping cherry blossom-laden street corners, and bouncing between supercars with barely a second’s thought are as exhilarating as they are endlessly enjoyable. But it's also effortless when you’re only using your thumbs. Sitting behind a proper racing wheel and cockpit changes all of that. After spending time playing Forza Horizon 6 with Logitech's RS ecosystem — including the RS wheel, RS pedals, clutch module, and Playseat Trophy racing seat — I don't think I can go back to a controller, nor do I ever want to. Not because the racing wheel suddenly turns Horizon 6 into a hardcore simulator, but because it makes every drive feel tangible in a way a controller simply can't replicate. Logitech’s RS ecosystem transforms a game I'd happily zone out with into one that constantly demands my attention, rewards precision, and somehow makes every victory feel more earned. The first thing that surprised me was the sheer level of immersion you can get from a cockpit setup. There's something fundamentally different about physically climbing into a racing seat, planting your feet on a set of pedals, and wrapping your hands around a steering wheel before you even press the accelerator. It's the kind of setup that tricks your brain into treating Horizon 6 differently, and makes you feel like Max Verstappen, if only for a brief moment.
