I was big into Clutch's mix of story and racing styles, but the driving's a lot simmier than I expected I wish there was a little bit less Forza Horizons and a little bit more Burnout in this new narraracer. Only the key creatives behind Forza Horizon currently have the sway to start up a brand new studio and secure the tens of millions of dollars in funding necessary to make a movie with a racing game attached to it. That's Clutch, a "cinematic open world action-driving game where the worlds of professional and underground street racing collide across the French Riviera." It's appropriate that Clutch is partially set in Monaco, because the whole game looks like money. Big money is not something I tend to associate with racing games in 2026, outside a very small number of legacy names. Forza Horizon's 6+ million sales in a matter of days makes it the only racing series going right now that pulls in the same kinds of numbers as, say, Sony's prestigious third-person action games. So why not make one of those, which tons of people like, but about cars? The pitch is sensible: So much of the appeal of heist movies or globetrotting capers like the Bond films is seeing suave people driving incredibly expensive cars around beautiful environs. Sim-focused racing games reproduce those cars in painstaking detail, while lighter racers that evoke the old arcade days often let you speed through those fun environments. Yet it's rare for either style of racing game to ever really make you care much about the person behind the wheel, even in the rare instances they have a story mode. Clutch is betting those millions of dollars that fully mocapped actors, a wealth of cutscenes, and an open world will make the difference.

Clutch is coming for Forza’s crown with one of the best-looking games I’ve ever seen Ex-Forza devs Maverick debut with a strong racing contender In the nicest possible way, how does Clutch look so good? That was my thought watching the first hour of the upcoming racer from Maverick. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Leamington Spa, UK-based team is filled to the brim with genre veterans. Boss Mike Brown previously served as the creative director on Forza Horizon, and Clutch isn’t much of a departure from that lineage. The demo opens with a flashback to our main character as a child. After a dramatic cut forward, our hero is a competitive racing driver in the R1K, the world’s most prestigious racing series in Clutch. A high-speed crash and the loss of his best friends see Theo Martial (played by Tosin Cole) and his younger sister, Cass (played by UK hip-hop breakout star Little Simz), have their world turned upside down. The boss of the R1K (played by Peter Serafinowicz) announces plans to introduce further AI integration to limit future accidents. The racers, appalled by this, decide to leave the championship behind and join the Midnight Collective, an underground street-racing group. As you’re flying around the hills and valleys of France, a live, Twitch-like chat fills a small section of the screen. While I did laugh at one of the messages that scrolled by, it’s a bit visually busy. A racing game without a good soundtrack is nothing, and Maverick is well aware of that. The game starts with Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams (in case you forgot, Maverick is a British developer) and only gets better from there. Well, how the times have changed for Xbox, and that’s not talking about the never-ending business issues that clog up the timeline every other day, but in terms of who is top dog of the Xbox brand. If you asked a hardcore Xbox fan during the peak Xbox 360 years, one who truly would bleed green for their platform of choice, that the car game once viewed as a Gran Turismo ripoff would eventually overtake Halo and Gears of War as Xbox’s crown jewel, they probably would have laughed in your face, thrown a can of Mountain Dew at you, and gone right back to playing Halo 3. But here we are in 2026. Halo is going through an identity crisis, Gears of War feels trapped in limbo, and the arcade-focused spin-off of the sim racing Forza series has quietly become the most consistently excellent thing Xbox produces. That puts a lot of pressure on Forza Horizon 6. This is a series coming off what many people considered its peak, Forza Horizon 5, and its gorgeous recreation of Mexico. Fans spent years asking Playground Games to finally take the series to Japan, almost to the point where the idea became a meme. Expectations reached impossible levels. There was this feeling that, even if the developers eventually delivered the dream setting, the actual game could never live up to what people imagined. After spending around 80 hours with Forza Horizon 6, though, I can honestly say Playground somehow pulled it off. Even at the top of the mountain, this series still found room to climb higher. The biggest reason is the world itself. Japan is not just a cosmetic backdrop here. Playground clearly understood that if they were finally going to use this setting, they needed to fully commit to the

Presumably, at nearly £59k, this means it’ll have a GTX 5090… Le Mans links 24 of the hand-built simulators will be offered to discerning customers, with Curv Racing Simulators handling assembly and manufacturing. The Shannons SpeedSeries resumes this weekend at Queensland Raceway with five categories on show for motorsport fans in the nation’s north-east. The LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland will feature more than 15 hours of on-track action and a packed line-up of fan experiences during the three-day festival and promises something for everyone from Friday 12 June through to Sunday 14 June. The third round of GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS headlines the schedule for competing categories this weekend, joining Round 3 of Monochrome GT4 Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, and Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia, as well as the second round of First Focus Radical Cup Australia. Following two impressive rounds at Victoria’s Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Tailem Bend’s Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, the third round begins with a free Friday for all, where there will be the brand new Shannons rig available throughout the event for fans to enjoy top-grade sim racing equipment, while Saturday will feature a special night race for Monochrome GT4 Australia. The Saturday coverage will begin from 8.15am AEST and conclude at 6.15pm and will feature races for all five categories, with Sunday’s broadcast to run from 10.00am AEST and conclude at 3.30pm. While the broadcast will be one of many exciting aspects of the highly anticipated LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland, there are plenty of activations available for attendees to enjoy across the weekend. A free demo of anime-inspired racing game Kaido Genkai is available to download on Steam now, with gameplay that looks like an open-world version of noughties racer Auto Modellista. The game’s bold graphics suit its stylised setting perfectly, with a lineup of JDM machinery that makes the Fast & Furious franchise blush. However, Kaido Genkai also features RPG elements that complement its arcade racing sections, with a storyline that guides players through a stylised version of ‘90s Japan. Kaido Genkai ‘invites players to challenge rivals, uncover mysteries surrounding their past, complete quests, discover hidden secrets, and collect a variety of unique vehicles’, according to the game’s PR blurb, so it sounds like an interesting take on the genre. Perhaps more interesting to car aficionados is the game’s unlicensed vehicle lineup, which appears to include facsimiles of Toyota MR2s, Suzuki Vitaras, Honda Beats, Honda City Turbos and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions. The demo incorporates around 2-3 hours of gameplay with 15 objectives to complete, with Canadian developer Karoshi Electric Company already reporting more than 40,000 Wishlists.
