Clutch is coming for Forza's crown with one of the best-looking video games I've ever seen

Clutch is coming for Forza’s crown with one of the best-looking games I’ve ever seen Ex-Forza devs Maverick debut with a strong racing contender In the nicest possible way, how does Clutch look so good? That was my thought watching the first hour of the upcoming racer from Maverick. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Leamington Spa, UK-based team is filled to the brim with genre veterans. Boss Mike Brown previously served as the creative director on Forza Horizon, and Clutch isn’t much of a departure from that lineage. The demo opens with a flashback to our main character as a child. After a dramatic cut forward, our hero is a competitive racing driver in the R1K, the world’s most prestigious racing series in Clutch. A high-speed crash and the loss of his best friends see Theo Martial (played by Tosin Cole) and his younger sister, Cass (played by UK hip-hop breakout star Little Simz), have their world turned upside down. The boss of the R1K (played by Peter Serafinowicz) announces plans to introduce further AI integration to limit future accidents. The racers, appalled by this, decide to leave the championship behind and join the Midnight Collective, an underground street-racing group. As you’re flying around the hills and valleys of France, a live, Twitch-like chat fills a small section of the screen. While I did laugh at one of the messages that scrolled by, it’s a bit visually busy. A racing game without a good soundtrack is nothing, and Maverick is well aware of that. The game starts with Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams (in case you forgot, Maverick is a British developer) and only gets better from there. Soon, Theo finds himself involved in criminality and in debt to seriously dangerous people. Thankfully, his skill as a top racing driver

Forza Horizon 6 Review

Well, how the times have changed for Xbox, and that’s not talking about the never-ending business issues that clog up the timeline every other day, but in terms of who is top dog of the Xbox brand. If you asked a hardcore Xbox fan during the peak Xbox 360 years, one who truly would bleed green for their platform of choice, that the car game once viewed as a Gran Turismo ripoff would eventually overtake Halo and Gears of War as Xbox’s crown jewel, they probably would have laughed in your face, thrown a can of Mountain Dew at you, and gone right back to playing Halo 3. But here we are in 2026. Halo is going through an identity crisis, Gears of War feels trapped in limbo, and the arcade-focused spin-off of the sim racing Forza series has quietly become the most consistently excellent thing Xbox produces. That puts a lot of pressure on Forza Horizon 6. This is a series coming off what many people considered its peak, Forza Horizon 5, and its gorgeous recreation of Mexico. Fans spent years asking Playground Games to finally take the series to Japan, almost to the point where the idea became a meme. Expectations reached impossible levels. There was this feeling that, even if the developers eventually delivered the dream setting, the actual game could never live up to what people imagined. After spending around 80 hours with Forza Horizon 6, though, I can honestly say Playground somehow pulled it off. Even at the top of the mountain, this series still found room to climb higher. The biggest reason is the world itself. Japan is not just a cosmetic backdrop here. Playground clearly understood that if they were finally going to use this setting, they needed to fully commit to the

New Aston Martin Valkyrie-inspired simulator is £58k worth of green unobtanium | Traxion

- AMR-C01-R Hypercar Edition is inspired by Aston Martin Valkyrie Hypercars competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans - Built in partnership with Curv Racing Simulators, headed by Le Mans winner Darren Turner - Carbon fibre monocoque simulator costs £58,750 plus taxes, limited to 24 units A new Aston Martin-branded simulator has been unveiled, joining the British car manufacturer’s previous AMR-C01 and AMR24 efforts. And, like the previous two simulators, the new AMR-C01-R Hypercar is expensive. Very expensive. £58,750 plus taxes, in fact. Presumably, at nearly £59k, this means it’ll have a GTX 5090… Le Mans links 24 of the hand-built simulators will be offered to discerning customers, with Curv Racing Simulators handling assembly and manufacturing. The firm, run by former Le Mans winner and Aston Martin Racing factory driver Darren Turner, focuses on creating bespoke simulator solutions in partnership with the Gaydon-based marque. Kaido Genkai looks like an open-world version of Auto Modellista, and we're here for it

A free demo of anime-inspired racing game Kaido Genkai is available to download on Steam now, with gameplay that looks like an open-world version of noughties racer Auto Modellista. The game’s bold graphics suit its stylised setting perfectly, with a lineup of JDM machinery that makes the Fast & Furious franchise blush. However, Kaido Genkai also features RPG elements that complement its arcade racing sections, with a storyline that guides players through a stylised version of ‘90s Japan. Kaido Genkai ‘invites players to challenge rivals, uncover mysteries surrounding their past, complete quests, discover hidden secrets, and collect a variety of unique vehicles’, according to the game’s PR blurb, so it sounds like an interesting take on the genre. Perhaps more interesting to car aficionados is the game’s unlicensed vehicle lineup, which appears to include facsimiles of Toyota MR2s, Suzuki Vitaras, Honda Beats, Honda City Turbos and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions. The demo incorporates around 2-3 hours of gameplay with 15 objectives to complete, with Canadian developer Karoshi Electric Company already reporting more than 40,000 Wishlists. We feel like Kaido Genkai is a game to keep an eye on in future. Discussion 0 Comments Join the discussion Join Traxion.gg to start discussing with members. Already a member? Sign in

Racing star visits Coronado as NASCAR track comes together

Shane van Gisbergen has spent most of his 37 years living under the Southern Cross. So when the road racing master from New Zealand was told he was representing NASCAR at a Coronado event Tuesday, he had to find his destination on a map. “My knowledge of American geography is not very good,” said the driver known as SVG. “Everywhere I go in this country is different. The land is different, the weather is different, the people are different.” But van Gisbergen’s knowledge of road and street courses on NASCAR’s schedule is excellent. Although he was seeing Naval Station Coronado for the first time Tuesday morning, van Gisbergen has already been established as the driver to beat in the Anduril 250 NASCAR Cup race on June 21. “I try to temper expectations,” said van Gisbergen, who has won seven of his first 14 starts on NASCAR road courses and street tracks. “Everyone is very good in this series. I try to keep pretty level about it. But I’m pretty good on this kind of track.” Pretty good? In his most recent road race, van Gisbergen won by over seven seconds on the historic Watkins Glen road course after trailing by 29.2 seconds while running 26th with 24 laps to go. “Watkins Glen was certainly fun,” said van Gisbergen. “It was fun being the attacker, being more seconds behind than there were laps to go.” Which is one of the reasons why NASCAR brought van Gisbergen to Coronado on Tuesday. First, NASCAR wanted to show off the 3.4-mile, 16-turn street course that is rapidly taking shape. And NASCAR was also releasing the iRacing simulator game featuring the Coronado course. What better driver to discuss the made-from-scratch track and debut a road racing simulation? “I just had a basic look at the

Why Williams reserve Luke Browning feels 'ready to drive a Formula 1 car now'

Why Williams reserve Luke Browning feels 'ready to drive a Formula 1 car now' Williams' Luke Browning is confident he can use his upcoming FP1 appearances in Barcelona and Austria to demonstrate that he could be the next big star in F1. Luke Browning knows that junior drivers don’t get many chances to show just what they can do in a Formula 1 car. That’s why when he heads out on track during FP1 at this weekend’s Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, he’s hoping to prove he’s more ready than ever before to claim one of the 22 elusive full-time seats. The 24-year-old is no stranger to the pressure of subbing in for a Williams driver, having experienced four Free Practice sessions already, but his rapid development means that he’s not the same racer he was when he made his first appearance during FP1 in Abu Dhabi at the tail end of 2024. With stints in F2 and an ongoing campaign in Japan’s challenging Super Formula series, as well as three years in the Grove outfit’s academy under his belt, Browning has reached the point where he firmly believes he could compete alongside the best in F1. For that reason, driving Alex Albon’s FW48 in Barcelona isn’t just a fun opportunity to take his work on the simulator into real life, but also represents an audition for a race seat in 2027, which Browning is hoping to nail down sooner rather than later. “Obviously, it's important for me to start performing in these Free Practices, but there's no pressure necessarily on lap times – it's just showing that I'm ready to get in the seat if I'm needed,” he said. “That's not necessarily pressure from above, that's just what I apply myself. “I want to hold myself to a good standard and
