‘We Love CarPlay': Man Leaves Woman In His Car. Then She Finds A Diabolical Way To Expose Him "CarPlay … definitely is for the girlies!" A woman discovers a diabolical way to expose her man after he leaves his car. In a TikTok with over 3.6 million views before it was seemingly deleted, Kim (@lvrkim_) shows herself using Apple CarPlay to expose her man. One viewer wrote, “I did this once and didn’t smile for 3 months.” In the TikTok, the woman sits in the passenger seat without her man in his vehicle. While the car is still running, the Apple CarPlay connection is still synced up. The woman decides to snoop around his phone while being connected to CarPlay. “When he leaves you in his car so you gotta be quiet in the creek,” the onscreen text reads. She quickly exits out of Maps, diabolically pulls up the man’s phone app, and swipes through his recent calls. She quickly investigates his history, and it appears to have several “no caller ID” calls. From here, she swiftly switches tabs to the contacts and voicemail sections. “We love carplay,” she captions the post while “Quiet on the Creek” by Saucy Santana plays in the background. ‘I Did This Once And Didn’t Smile For 3 Months’ Viewers chimed in the comments section and gave additional investigative CarPlay tips to use next time. “Don’t forget to check the Map’s recent locations,” one TikTok commenter suggested. “Straight to Bluetooth to see who’s connected,” a second wrote. “Ohh you are giving me an idea,” another added. Kim told Motor1, “I honestly didn’t expect [the video] to blow up like that. I was just capturing a moment, and it turned into something everyone related to. One thing I will say… CarPlay … definitely is for the

The Hyundai i20 has long been one of the benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment. Along with a spacious cabin, comfortable ride and a feature-rich interior, it offers buyers a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, while those seeking more performance can opt for the sportier i20 N Line. However, its premium pricing (Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.59 lakh) means it faces stiff competition from both premium hatchbacks and similarly priced compact SUVs. Here’s a look at the Hyundai i20’s biggest strengths and weaknesses. Pros 1. Spacious and comfortable cabin One of the i20’s biggest strengths is its cabin. It offers generous rear-seat space for a premium hatchback, with enough legroom and headroom to comfortably accommodate taller passengers. The front seats are supportive, the dashboard layout is intuitive, and the cabin feels airy thanks to its low-set dashboard. Practicality is another strong point, with a 311-litre boot that’s well suited to everyday use and weekend trips. 2. Well-equipped across the range The i20 continues to offer one of the strongest feature lists in its class. Higher variants come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, a Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, a sunroof and ambient lighting. Safety equipment is equally comprehensive, with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and Isofix child-seat mounts available on higher trims. 3. Comfortable ride and refined road manners The i20 is tuned with comfort in mind. Its suspension absorbs broken roads well without feeling unsettled, while the light steering makes it easy to manoeuvre in the city. On the highway, the hatchback feels stable and composed, giving it a more mature driving experience than many of its rivals. Overall, it strikes a good balance between everyday comfort and confident

The latest batch of recalls issued by Ford this month isn’t for a new problem. It was actually to solve an issue the company thought it fixed back in 2021. Examples of the Explorer produced between September 2014 and March 2019 were previously recalled for potentially defective roof rails that could detach at high speeds, creating a road hazard for other drivers. The number of Explorers recalled under Ford’s 26S54 recall was just a fraction of the nearly 2 million vehicles Ford has recalled this month alone, with some Explorers included in the original 2021 recall for the same issue now back on the list of affected vehicles. What To Know About Ford’s Roof Rail Recall Ford plans to issue recall notices to owners by mail between August 24–28. Owners can check whether their Explorer is part of the recall on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website by entering the VIN or license plate number. Vehicles that have already been recalled for the same issue might still be affected by the current recall caused by the epoxy used to secure the roof rails to the body. JAC Products, a Tier 1 automotive supplier that provides Ford with roof rail components, manufactured the parts used on the Explorers in question. Failures not caused by the factory might have resulted from repairs made during the prior recall. The NHTSA report noted instances in which technicians may have applied less epoxy than needed or failed to replace broken clips that hold the roof rails to the body. It also stated that roof rails with plated covers, which may have been exposed to hot and cold climates over the years, may have aged and weakened, potentially causing parts to fail. The report also stated a rattle or squeak at highway speeds might

Hyundai has showcased the new Santa Fe at the ongoing 2026 Indonesia Motor Show, expanding its SUV portfolio in the Southeast Asian market. The highlight of the 2026 MY Santa Fe is the introduction of the XRT trim, which adds a more adventure-focused character to this three-row SUV.
Compared to the standard model, the Santa Fe XRT receives several cosmetic and functional upgrades. These include unique 20-inch alloy wheels, side steps, roof cross bars, mud guards, and metal pedals, all of which lend the SUV a tougher appearance. The cabin also gets premium features such as relaxation seats, second-row electric captain seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless charging pads, and a Bose premium sound system.
Powering the Santa Fe XRT is Hyundai's 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain, paired with the brand's latest suite of driver assistance technologies under the Hyundai SmartSense umbrella. Connected car features through Bluelink are also part of the package.
The latest-generation Santa Fe has already gained attention globally for its boxy styling and spacious cabin. If launched here in India, the Santa Fe would sit above the Tucson and rival premium three-row SUVs in the segment.

Apple CarPlay isn't working in your car? Here's what to check first A quick, reliable guide for diagnosing the most common CarPlay connection failures. Like most features on your iPhone, CarPlay should be straightforward to use once you get it set up. Unfortunately, as with any tech, problems can arise that stop CarPlay from functioning properly. After you get used to the conveniences of Apple's auto software, you can feel stuck in the past when you have to use your phone's display for music and maps instead. And that doesn't even take the safety concerns into account. Perhaps you can't get CarPlay to work for the first time, it's stopped working after a period of normal use, or it suddenly keeps disconnecting. These problems often have the same root causes, so running through some troubleshooting should clear them up. Unless the issue ends up being the cable you use for CarPlay, you won't have to spend any cash, either. One don't have to be an automotive technician or an iPhone expert to apply these fixes, so even novice users should be back to enjoying their favorite music and navigation streamed through the car's display before long. Start with simple CarPlay troubleshooting steps It's always wise to check simple points before you spend time on advanced troubleshooting. Begin by restarting your phone, then shut your car off and start it back up. This makes sure that no temporary hiccups are preventing a good connection. Depending on your car, CarPlay might not open automatically when you connect your iPhone. Look for it on your car's default infotainment screen and tap to open it. If this is the first time you've tried to use CarPlay, double-check Apple's CarPlay vehicle list to confirm your car is compatible with the feature. Every iPhone from the

Rental Operations Why Bookings Are Only the Start of the Rental Day A reservation captures demand. The operating test is whether the business can keep the customer, vehicle, commercial terms, and next action aligned until the rental is closed. Every rental should have one connected record that remains useful from inquiry to return. Automotive Fleet At 4:45 pm, the 5 pm pickup looks confirmed. The calendar shows a midsize sedan. The customer has paid a deposit. The team expects the handoff to be routine. Then the operating reality appears. The planned vehicle came back late. Cleaning has not been acknowledged. The customer's license is in a WhatsApp thread. A rate exception was promised by phone. The return photos for the substitute vehicle sit in another app. Everyone is working, but no one can see in one place whether the original promise can still be kept. This is not a booking problem. The booking did its job. It captured the customer, dates, class, location, and rate. This is a continuity problem: The facts and commitments needed to fulfill the booking stopped traveling together. Over the past five years, I have worked on marketplace-style rentals and the operating workflows behind them. That work forces a useful distinction between demand and fulfillment. A screen can create a transaction, but customer trust is decided by what happens after it: whether the right vehicle is ready, whether the customer has completed the requirements, whether the money and contract are clear, and whether the team knows who must act next. Across different rental models, the forms change but the failure pattern is remarkably consistent. The customer promise is made in one place. Fleet reality develops in another. Payment, documents, messages, condition evidence, and staff decisions collect elsewhere. When the day becomes busy, the team has to

You Bought The Car. Why Are You Still Paying For Subscriptions? Automakers are turning vehicles into app stores, but drivers have already drawn a line between paying for connected services and renting hardware they own. You buy a new car. You pay the destination charge, registration fees, and taxes. Then you start to see your monthly payment roll in as well. Maybe a few months to a year later, however, the car asks for another credit card. Features that once came with the vehicle, or were purchased once as an option, can now be packaged through monthly or annual subscriptions. Navigation data, hands-free driving, extra performance, and basic convenience features are all potential sources of recurring revenue. Drivers may hate the idea, and rightfully so, but subscription features probably aren’t going away. Your Car Is Becoming an App Store Modern vehicles are packed with computers, cameras, cellular connections, and software that can be updated without a dealership visit. That lets automakers sell features long after the car leaves the factory. Tesla’s Premium Connectivity plan adds cellular access to features such as live traffic visualization and satellite-view maps for $9.99 per month or $99 per year. Tesla also offers "Full Self-Driving" for $99 per month on eligible vehicles. Ford takes a similar approach with BlueCruise. Its hands-free highway-driving system costs $49.99 per month, $495 per year, or $2,495 as a one-time purchase when the vehicle is purchased. The hardware already sits inside the car. Software decides whether the owner can use it. Why Automakers Love Subscriptions The traditional car business revolves around one major transaction. A manufacturer sells a vehicle, then waits years for that customer to buy another one. Or occasionally pop in for service visits. Subscriptions change the math. A software feature can generate revenue throughout the vehicle’s life.

Android Auto comes standard on most new cars, but that wasn't always the case. Plenty of older cars, some only a few years old, shipped without it. My 2021 car didn't come with a head unit or Android Auto. Even though I eventually installed a head unit, Android Auto was still missing from the equation until I found Headunit Revived, an emulator that turned my head unit into an Android Auto-compatible device. If you want, it can also turn your spare phone into a dedicated Android Auto device. Setting up Headunit Revived An open-source Android Auto emulator for any Android device Headunit Revived is an open-source Android Auto head unit emulator. It takes any Android device running Android 4.1 or later and turns it into an Android Auto receiver. That means a spare phone, an old tablet, or even an aftermarket Android head unit that never shipped with Android Auto support can now run Google Maps, Spotify, phone calls, and everything else you'd expect from a factory Android Auto setup. Since it's open source, you can download the APK for free directly from GitHub. There's also a paid version on the Google Play Store for $3.99 if you want automatic updates and want to support the developer. For the self-mode setup I'll walk through here, the free GitHub version works fine. Once you install the app, a setup wizard walks you through the configuration. Here's how the self-mode setup works, where your phone itself acts as the Android Auto device: - Open the app and choose your language on the welcome screen. - On the How do you connect? screen, select Self Mode. This runs Android Auto directly on the device without needing a second phone. - The app detects your panel resolution and codec support. On the Display screen,

- Ford believes Chinese automakers could reach America in 5-10 years, despite current barriers. - Chinese brands have already grabbed major sales wins across regions like Europe and Australia. - Detroit is developing cheaper EVs before Chinese rivals eventually reach American showrooms. Chinese automakers are effectively locked out of America today, but Ford’s CEO Jim Farley apparently doesn’t expect that wall to stand forever. Farley reportedly told employees that Chinese brands could enter the US within five to 10 years, giving Detroit a useful deadline for getting its house in order. Farley and other senior Ford executives discussed the possibility of a Chinese incursion during an employee town hall, suggesting an arrival toward the later end of that 5-10-year window is more likely, Reuters sources say. That’s despite big financial and regulatory barriers currently making Chinese cars extremely difficult to sell in America. Related: Ford’s Chairman Warns America Can’t Keep Chinese Cars Out Forever Chinese cars face tariffs of around 100 percent as of 2026, while connected-vehicle regulations progressively restrict Chinese software and hardware. Those regulations have forced Polestar, mostly owned by China’s Geely, to exit the US after MY26, despite building its 3 SUV at Volvo’s plant in South Carolina. Lawmakers are also pushing for even tougher measures. But Ford’s leadership clearly isn’t betting the company on those protections lasting indefinitely. Executive Chairman Bill Ford made that point recently when discussing the threat from China. “We can’t expect to keep them out forever, and we have to be able to beat them at their own game,” he said, according to the Wall Street Journal. There’s plenty of evidence explaining Ford’s concern. Chinese automakers have stormed markets where they’ve been allowed to compete, accounting for roughly one in 10 European sales. In Britain, Jaecoo only registered its first vehicle in

WASHINGTON – In case you missed it, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and Elissa Slotkin’s (D-Mich.) Connected Vehicle Security Act unanimously passed out of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee to defend America’s auto industry. Following the passage, organizations from across the American automotive ecosystem—including automakers, suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, trucking organizations, labor unions, and national security advocates—praised the legislation for safeguarding one of America’s most critical industries. What They Are Saying: Leading Automakers “General Motors applauds the efforts of Senator Moreno (R-OH) and Slotkin (D-MI) in securing strong bipartisan support and passage of S. 4429, the Connected Vehicle Security Act, via voice vote out of the Senate Commerce Committee,” said General Motors. “GM supports policies that protect and strengthen American manufacturing and the global competitiveness of U.S. automakers, and we remain committed to long-term investments in our domestic workforce, facilities, and technology, and we look forward to continuing to work with all stakeholders throughout the process. As we have said many times, we can compete with anyone in the world when we are given a level playing field.” “As the largest auto manufacturer in Ohio, Honda applauds committee passage of the Connected Vehicle Security Act, which seeks to provide a fair and competitive marketplace for U.S. automakers,” said American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “As global competition in the automotive sector intensifies, the bill importantly recognizes how American economic and national security are increasingly connected.” “We are pleased with the committee approval of the Connected Vehicle Security Act,” said Nissan Motor Co., LTD. “We look forward to continuing to work with Senators Moreno and Slotkin on policies that matter to our customers and strengthen the future of the U.S. automotive industry.” “Stellantis commends the Senate Commerce Committee for unanimously reporting out the Connected Vehicle Security Act,” said Stellantis N.V. “This is

“Consumer sentiment is improving every month,” Manley said. “Our banking partners are reporting 20% increases in applications and originations, and their delinquencies continue to improve.” During the second quarter, AutoNation’s revenue was down 1% year over year. The company saw year-over-year declines of 2% in same-store revenue, 5% in same-store gross profit, 5% in same-store new vehicle retail unit sales and 8% in same-store used vehicle retail unit sales, according to a Friday earnings release. In a presentation released Friday, AutoNation said the company faced headwinds related to tariffs and battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales. New vehicles sales were impacted by the “tariff pull-ahead” seen in April 2025 and the BEV subsidies that were in place through September 2025. During an earlier earnings call, in February, Manley said AutoNation and others in the industry had seen shoppers race to buy vehicles in early 2025 before the implementation of tariffs and the expiration of electric vehicle tax credits. That created a “strong pull ahead” that affected vehicle sales in subsequent quarters, Manley said. During Friday’s earning call, Manley said that during the second quarter, BEV sales were down by more than 30% year over year. “We’re looking forward to the second half when the volume comparison headwinds from 2025 relating to tariffs and EV credits lapse,” Manley said. Looking ahead, AutoNation expects to see consumer and industry sales remain resilient, new and used vehicle profitability stabilize, and its market share grow, according to the presentation. Manley said during the call that the seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) is “at a healthy place” and consumers are “incredibly resilient given everything that is going on.” He added that affordability levels are the best they’ve been in a few years. While not back to pre-COVID levels, affordability is “significantly improved” over the past 24

Welcome back to the latest episode of The Future of Automotive on CBT News, where we put recent automotive and mobility news into the context of the broader themes impacting the industry. I’m Steve Greenfield from Automotive Ventures, and I’m glad that you could join us. This week, I’d like to talk about vehicle subscriptions. Not subscribing instead of owning a car, but the unbundling of vehicle features and options and charging the consumer a monthly fee to activate them. If you remember during Covid, when buzz around the “Connected Car” was at it’s peak, automakers like GM, Ford and Stellantis, each said that they expected to generate upwards of $30 billion annually, by the end of this decade, from unbundling vehicle options and features and selling them to consumers on a monthly subscription basis. This was the era of Software-as-a-Service (or SaaS) companies selling at 15-times forward annual revenue. (as a point of reference, they’ve since fallen to about 20% of those sky high valuations). Back then, the more that an automaker could make its’ revenue look and feel like recurring software, the better it would be for their stock market valuations. Needless to say, the stock markets rewarded automakers with increased share prices when they announced this strategic shift. At least in the short term. Well, fast forward to today, and we’re seeing some evidence, albeit tempered, of these strategies playing out. Ford, in their commercial vehicle FordPro division, is now generating over 900k paid subscriptions, usually priced at about $20 per vehicle per month, which contribute upwards of 20% of FordPro’s earnings. This week, we have news from GM about their success in generating new, recurring subscription revenues. And it turns out, according to plan, these new software revenues are very, very profitable. General Motors says its
