Lance Stroll has voiced his confidence that Aston Martin can achieve “something very special” in the future despite a difficult start to the 2026 season, with the Canadian keen to “ride this tough spell out”. The campaign had proven challenging for the squad before racing had even started, having only arrived at the Barcelona Shakedown for the final two days of running before struggling with reliability during pre-season testing in Bahrain, leaving them with the lowest lap count of all 11 teams. Those issues continued when the championship got underway in Australia, with the AMR26 affected by vibrations from the Honda power unit as well as generally lacking pace in comparison to the team’s rivals. While there have been signs of progress since – with both cars seeing the chequered flag in Miami – Aston Martin still have a journey ahead of them. For Stroll, it is one that he is feeling optimistic about, despite the recent difficulties. “We've got some incredibly talented people at the AMR Technology Campus and there's huge potential with the tools like the new CoreWeave AIR Tunnel and the simulator,” Stroll explained in an interview on the squad’s website. "We have all the elements to become a winning team, it's just about unlocking that potential. I firmly believe in this project, even though right now we're experiencing some difficult times. Microsoft has broken new ground on Steam as Forza Horizon 6 becomes the most popular racing game ever on the platform. Forza Horizon 6 shows signs of being gaming's latest big hit as the racing sim achieves hundreds of thousands of players on Steam on launch day. New data from SteamDB shows that FH6 managed to hit over 273K players in the last 24 hours, setting a new all-time peak player count not only for Forza Horizon games, but racing games as a genre on Steam itself. Other details indicate that Forza Horizon 6 may have already made over $140 million in revenue from its premium version alone, dwarfing our own analysis of the game's early advanced access sales on Steam. This could show that consumers are now more price tolerant for higher-end experiences, and that Microsoft's penchant towards FOMO-oriented early access is also working out quite well, as Forza Horizon 6's $120 premium edition is roughly equivalent of two full-priced games from the previous console generation. A screenshot of Forza Horizon 6's leaderboards was shared before the base version of the game launched, giving an idea of how many people may have paid for the $120 premium edition. The image showed approximately 1,191,886 players had jumped into FH6, and while specifics around these numbers remain unclear, a quick bit of math shows that Xbox could have pulled in over $143 million in revenue from premium edition sales alone. Xbox's communications teams have yet to reveal any kind of sales milestones for Forza Horizon 6, but those might be coming in the next few days. Coulthard reveals why he thinks Verstappen ‘will not be going anywhere’ as he backs Red Bull stay Former F1 driver David Coulthard has shared an insight into why he believes that Max Verstappen will not leave Red Bull. David Coulthard believes that Max Verstappen will remain at Red Bull “for the rest of his career” due to the team allowing him to “be Max”, with the Dutchman having participated in the Nurburgring 24 Hours last weekend. While Verstappen holds a contract to race for Red Bull through to the end of 2028, speculation has still arisen over his future at certain stages, which included rumours circulating during 2025 about possible talks with Mercedes. However, Coulthard – who raced for the Milton Keynes-based squad himself between 2005 and 2008 – feels that the team’s approach suits the four-time World Champion in a way that other squads may not. “Max will not be going anywhere because there's no other Formula 1 team that would allow him to be Max,” Coulthard said on the Up To Speed podcast. “McLaren wouldn't be able to do it. Ferrari wouldn't be able to do it. Mercedes wouldn't be able to do it, despite the fact he was driving a Mercedes, just because of the investment that goes into the individual driver, but Red Bull do. “And actually, in fairness and in the spirit of Mr [Dietrich] Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull, that's exactly... I remember when I first met him before signing to drive for the team, I asked him, ‘What do you expect of me?’ And he said, ‘Be yourself’. But how does one judge a title that comes from a long line of great racing games? Better yet, would ranking them all even be possible, considering how hard it can be to pick one over the other? Well, that’s exactly what we set out to do, and it’s been a lot of back and forth before we could come to an agreement on this particular pecking order. Without further ado, let’s kick things into gear and take a nostalgic drive through Forza’s history, beginning with: 15. Forza Street We always look back at this one with a tinge of regret, as it could have been so much more. But all it managed to be was a confused amalgamation of Motorsport and Horizon that never quite managed to replicate the flair of either. Street was certainly an easy pick for the last spot on this list. But it did manage to entertain during its time as a free-to-play spinoff, so credit where it’s due. 14. Forza Motorsport 5 Although this one had some interesting additions like Drivatar and some truly gorgeous graphics for its time, it falls to a lower rank thanks to a rather short selection of cars and tracks in the initial release and an over-reliance on DLC over the course of its shelf life. It’s still a solid racing title, although its modern successors in the franchise might have you leaving it for better tracks if you were to try it out today. 13. Former F1 driver Timo Glock has stated Max Verstappen “has the balls” to speak out in criticism of the new regulations, making him a role model within motorsport. Verstappen has been unhappy with the way the current cars must be driven to extract performance, with a greater emphasis this year placed on energy management and deployment. The four-time champion has also been exploring other forms of motorsport and competed in the Nürburgring 24 Hours last weekend. His participation generated huge interest, with more than 350,000 fans attending across the weekend. Verstappen’s passion for motorsport has not gone unnoticed by Glock, who spoke exclusively to RacingNews365 at the Nordschleife. “Not only for the Nordschleife, I would say for motorsport in general worldwide, for me, he's a role model,” the Dörr Motorsport driver said. “The best example is last year when the F1 film got presented in New York. All the other F1 drivers were there, showing up in a suit taking photos. “Max was inspired and doing a GT3 test with his team which shows everything, that he doesn't care about it. He cares about the sport. “That is why he's vocal about F1 at the moment. He's not negative against it, he's saying what he thinks to save F1 because they are on the wrong route at the moment.” Article continues below. New GR Cup Hot Seat Initiative Debuts Adding another layer of intrigue to the weekend is the introduction of the new GR Cup Hot Seat initiative by Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa. The programme will see prominent South African personalities step away from studios, simulators and social media platforms to experience the pressures of real-world circuit racing behind the wheel of the GR Yaris AT. Leading the charge at Zwartkops this weekend will be Girlie Lukhele, a content creator, sim racer and rookie rally competitor who becomes the first Hot Seat entrant to tackle the challenge in a competitive race environment. “Track is something that’s not very familiar to me, so I’m really looking forward to learning more than anything,” Lukhele explains. “Rally has always been my comfort zone, but I’m hoping to apply what I’ve learned there to the track environment and hopefully fight for a podium.” For SuperSport’s Nabil Abdool, the initiative reflects the evolving vision behind the GR Cup platform. “The GR Cup has once again demonstrated its progressive thinking and inclusive approach to motorsport,” Abdool says. “It is opening doors for passionate enthusiasts from different backgrounds and giving them a genuine opportunity to experience main circuit racing. The Forza Horizon games have always been about drama. Not just the tension and excitement of racing, but also the sensory impact of the natural environment – the sun rising over a dense city, rain clouds hovering above a valley floor. There are moments in this game – perhaps after emerging from a dense forest, or coming up from an underpass – where Mount Fuji briefly appears in the distance, hazy yet majestic, the Platonic ideal of a volcano – and it almost takes your breath away. Fans of this series have been waiting years for Japan and now here it is, the whole country, reduced, remixed and repackaged as a driving paradise. In many ways, Forza Horizon 6 is a continuation of what this series has always been about. You enter a festival-style driving competition then drive around a vast map splattered with various races and challenges, earning reputation by competing well and buying new vehicles for your extensive garage. There are slight changes this time – you start as a rookie not an established legend, so you have to qualify to enter the festival, and Playground has re-introduced the need to unlock successive levels of competition bringing back the sense of progression from the earliest titles in the series. You start out clattering about in slower C-class vehicles on easier circuits and have to work hard to start lining up against super cars such as the Ferrari J50 or Lamborghini Huracán. Progress is through winning races of course, but also through carrying out challenges such as speed traps and jumps, or simply pulling cool drifts and other stylish driving manoeuvres as you explore. The sim racing community calls Gran Turismo 7 a simcade. It is meant that GT7 is not a real simulator, that its physics are reduced for accessibility, that the platform’s audience is playing a video game rather than a genuine driving simulator. The implication is always that serious sim racers use iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Lemans Ultimate, or rFactor. Real sims. PC sims. In May 2026, Hyundai sent a clear message about where it stands on this debate. They took a Next Level Racing cockpit, a PlayStation 5, a Logitech G Pro wheel, and an LG OLED display, products anyone can buy today, put their N brand on it, and started selling it for $10,500. That is not a criticism. It is the point. Hyundai's product team looked at everything available in the sim racing market and chose the same hardware this community has been recommending for years. The platform they built it around is Gran Turismo 7 on PS5. A note before we get into the details: in April 2025, I published a build guide for a pro-level PS5 sim rig built around the SIMlab GT1 Evo, the Logitech G Pro wheel, and a 65-inch OLED television.
